Negro, please. That's a high minded and ultimately true sentiment, but there are two kinds of people in the world:

1) The kind that have to internalize those lessons through years of arduous self discovery,

2) The kind who can go their entire lives without ever needing to learn that at all, because life is awesome!!!!!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you severely underestimate the degree to which 'shallow' life advantages beget 'meaningful' life advantages; the same of course applies for disadvantages.

Cardo, before we turn this into an EDGD blowout, let me say that shallow life advantages are a double-edged sword. I've started to wonder what the advantages are of living in a rich, technologically-advanced society when our level of happiness does not improve commensurately. Rather than thinking of being rich/beautiful as being a leg up on being happy, I think that poor/ugly people dwell in their own misery -- exaggerating the awesomeness of being rich and beautiful, bemoaning their lack of fortune, and in general actively making themselves unhappy. There is a difference between the two, and it's not just looking at the same thing from two diff perspectives.
