Re: August Low-Content Thread
[ QUOTE ]
Yea well i think people exaggerate it sometimes, but other times it is as crazy as people say. It really varies from table to table. Oh and usually the 40 is pretty good, the big difference from 20 to 40 is they tend to be more aggressive. And ya you do run fantastic heh... calling 3 bets on the turn to hit a one-outer with your AA. I on the other hand was not running as good, but managed to win a little bit heh. Nice meeting you, i kinda figured you were 2+2 by your play and also when you said how you heard about such good action at The Commerce. [/ QUOTE ] Hey you know i had 7 outs and I only called one more bet, but i am lucky. When the ace hit the river i almost jumped out of my chair. I was also happy i didnt have to look like an idiot and make a monsterously stupid crying call getting 236 to 1. I woulda been curious what he had anyway. I was 1000% sure he had me beat when he says, "you got aces again huh?.......i raise". Classic. |

Re: August Low-Content Thread
Commerce has been overrun this weekend by goot-playing Minnesotans.
I sat next to a young guy from MN wearing a white A&F cap and black/charcoal A&F jacket. I was sure he was a 2+2er but never got around to asking his name. He was to my left in a 20 game. I was raising and iso-3-towning a lot and he didn't get to play many hands but played well when he did. BTW does anybody know the guy who likes to wear Tommy Bahama shirts? Big white middle-aged guy who wears dark glasses and slick-backed hair. |

Re: August Low-Content Thread
Finally, a glorious hand to post. AT a fishy 30 regular puts straddle on, 2 cc'ers, Laggy fish 3 bets, I 4-bet red AQ, Chiu a another fishy regular calls, straddle caps all call.
Flop: AQ7r checked to me I bet all call. turn: 8 completed rainbow I bet all call. river: Q I bet and get 2 callers and scoop biggest pot in 4 months. Actually pretty sad. |

Re: August Low-Content Thread
local 20/40 game.
guy that capped preflop is somewhat of a maniac and the guy that 3-bet preflop is generally a little too loose passive and so his range preflop is pretty constrained to like 99-AA, AK/AQ here. Anyway, I limp with 33 UTG1, maniac raises after a couple of folds, dude 3-bets, both blinds call, I call, maniac caps, everybody calls, Flop is 993r check, check, I check, maniac bets, dude calls, 1 blind calls, I decide to c/r the field on the turn and call turn is a 2 I c/r the field of 4 after the maniac bets again. The maniac now calls, and dude comes to life and 3-bets. I decide calling down is my best option. River is an A I check, maniac checks, dude bets, I call, maniac c/r, dude 3-bets and I fold. Dude shows 99 and maniac probably just rivered an ace to go with his AK. blah, first cooler session I've had in a while. Month goal not going well: +5k and probably only going to get two more sessions in. |

Especially since I am always totured by Chui. I am sure he had some kind of straight draw and paired the 8! |

Re: August Low-Content Thread - Question?
Too silly to be it's own thread, but I still have a question ... so, hopefully, it will fit into low-content. If not, ignore.
15/30 local card room. I'm running hot. I'm up 2 1/2 racks and the table is getting flustered. Three players clearly on tilt. Table likely sees me as as somewhat solid, some weakish tendencies, and aggressive. I've got excellent position - loosies on my right, tighties on my left. I've been picking on Seat 2's BB quite a bit due to good cards, circumstance, and, well, he can lay a hand down (I'm in Seat 8 (9 handed)). I've taken down 3 fo the last 4 hands I was involved in. Folds to me in the cutoff and I look down and see J,2s. I open raise. You like? Hate? Really curious if this is just way to far out of the realm of good poker? So on to the low content portion ... SB folds (Seat 2), BB calls (Seat 3 - LAG who I've been butting heads with quite a bit, he's been bluffing like crazy and I've been taking him to value-town. Which is not a strength of mine, it's something I'm working on, and tonight it's working). Flop comes with a 2. Checked to me and I bet, Seat 3 C/R me. Flop has 2 connected and 2 suited cards. It's probable that Seat 3 only has some semblance of a draw here. I call. Turn is an Ace. Seat 3 bets, I raise, he calls. River is J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] completing the flush. He checks, I check (yes, I didn't take him to value town this time, my bad) and call out two pair. He flashes 7,6 for the missed gut shot and I table my two pair and MHIG! He goes ballistic. Make that 4 players on tilt, two courtesy of me! Was this realy, really awful? I'm curious |

I'm curious [/ QUOTE ] It is very spewy, and it is plays like this that killed me in my first attempt to move up to 20/40. I felt I had to be over aggressive, and would never fold a hand in the CO or button when folded around to me. I have since found how to fold, and I have successfully made the transition now to 20/40 full time. Slow down and fold, its not the worst thing in the world to see a pot chopped when you were on the button or cutoff. |

Was this realy, really awful? [/ QUOTE ] No. It's -EV but it's not that bad and putting the table on tilt can pay big dividends. Also it can be good if you look left and see a couple people with no interest in their hands. |

Re: August Low-Content Thread - Question?
Given the game texture you describe I think your preflop play is fine. Your postflop play is a little spewy asking a guy you've been 'taking to valuetown' to fold but whatever.
