Re: WSOP on ESPN thread (10/9 - ME Final Table)
Yang absolutely raped this final table. I watched it live, and I can tell you the man was raising / re raising every other hand, and was absolutely fearless. He played like a [censored] genius - he KNEW he was one of the worst players at the table, and was WILLING to get all his money in preflop as a slight dog against a better player - because he realized this was his best shot for knocking people out and winning the event.
Yang played to win, and every single hand he played was to knock somebody out. It is very clear he was playing for a purpose, unlike some of the other players who played extremely scared. This ESPN edited broadcast does Yang no credit, and in no way shows how he was truly dominating the table. You can argue Yang got the cards too, but he also had a few suckouts against him and lost some flips - and still one. All in all, he played optimal strategy for somebody of his skill level at this table IMO. |

[ QUOTE ] It's also a dick move [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I think we need to work on changing that perception. [/ QUOTE ] But norm chad told him it was a dick move!!! PLEASE - jerry yang won 8 bazillion hands without showing his cards (if u watched ppv you would know this), any show down I got with him I would definitely insist on seeing his cards. |

Jerry said "nice call" and pushed his cards in. This means Kalmar should get the pot regardless of what anybody has; he shouldn't have to show his hand either. [/ QUOTE ] It went to showdown, so you have to show your cards to claim the pot. See poker rules, "The Showdown" section. |

they were having a pray off? [/ QUOTE ] I'm a bit late on this but that pray-off was [censored] awesome. It reminded me of those films where there's an argument over who owns a horse or a dog and they "let the animal decide". The two people stand there going "come to me Rex" / "Mommy loves you Silver". You wacky Christians with your invisible friends. Mercy. |

Re: WSOP on ESPN thread (10/9 - ME Final Table)
It would've been a lot more interesting if a Hellmuth-like player (traps players) was at the final table. Yang's style of play was so exploitable....just let him bluff his chips off to you. It didn't seem like anybody tried to adopt this strategy (although maybe it's just the [censored] ESPN coverage that didn't show anyone doing this).

Re: WSOP on ESPN thread (10/9 - ME Final Table)
I would think that Hellmuth-style player would do poorly with the kind of crazy pre-flop action. The only strategy against Yang seemed to be to get pocket aces.
