What are you looking for? They were part of Dharma experiments in those cages on the smaller island. At some point when all the Dharma stuff was crumbling, they escaped and swam to the main island.

I think back to what happened to Desmond when the hatch exploded. Remember he was able to go back in the past and change things.

We still haven't figured out what exactly happened to Locke on that day, whether or not he was affected in the same way that Desmond was. If he has the same ability to have gone back and changed the past, then this could be how he potentially became "Jacob"

Desmond didn't really have control over his "ability" though. That being said, it is becoming more and more clear that time is messed up somehow. Anyone want to wager that "Adam" and "Eve" are characters we already know?

Yeah, that's a good point.

Comment from the producers in white: <font color="white"> They said in an interview that Adam and Eve not only are a key part of the mythology that will unfold, but it is key enough that whenever the details are revealed, it will be clear to the audience that the producers have been planning things out from the start. That adds an interesting element into it, so the theory that it could be characters we already know is pretty legit I would think.</font>

One other idea regarding Adam and Eve. In the episode last night, Ben and his dad are taking supplies to the Pearl, right? That would seem to indicate that there are two people in that hatch as well, just like the Swan. Maybe when no one came to relieve them, they left the Pearl and ended up getting killed somehow.

The thing that bothered me the most is that Locke didn't try to feel if there was an invisible guy there. If someone told me there was an invisible dude sitting in a chair, the first thing I would do would be to swipe at him with my arms and see if I connect with anything. If I couldn't touch him at least I'd probably piss him off a little.
