In defense of daver/scrub/et al:

there was a time when I was still just posting in strategy, and many people complained that some (me included) never posted in any threads other than by a few of the "cool" kids, when in reality, all that was going on was that I only replied to threads people had IMed to me, which just happened to be highly skewed towards people on my buddy list... so, at least for me, the behaviour wasnt me intentionally trying to be elitist

You have always been and always will be a jackoff. Stop trying to side step the issue.

Since I remember you being one of the more vocal complainers, I can only assume this post stirred up some bad memories.

Also, the fact there you think there is an "issue" here is telling.

This makes sense. Also I think you're a great poster and engage everyone in convo.

But let's say a poster did the following:

Hangs out with a bunch of 2+2'ers. Start a thread that alludes to (unbenknownst to other 2+2'ers not in this bunch because the OP is incredibly vague) some event that just took place. On a very boring, undefined, or silly topic. Wait to see members of this bunch start responding to the OP and "reveal" that it is, in fact, an OP about his friends!. Ignore other 2+2 posters who didn't go out with this group.

Then when other posters claim "this is gay", retort by noting the following: 1) hey man, you don't have to read this thread; or 2) dude you don't even play poker, why are you here?

Doesn't this type of behavior seem really lame? And to point 1 - we are all here to read threads. So noting that "you can just not read it" is absurd - what else are we doing here?

Importnatly, I think people are missing this point - I sincerely doubt people care if they are "excluded" from the "elite circle" of OOT or 2+2. It's more that seeing a poster behave in this way is incredibly gay therefore annoying.

Diablo - aw, thanks man [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Listen - I realize this is silly, but my major pet peeve is elitism in any form.

And to my post above, it is painfully obvious that the driver for this posting behavior is to separate oneself from the herd and claim / announce elite status. The fact that posters do this in OOT is just completely lame (therefore irritating).

Now as someone mentinoed, on strategy forums, this is important, because of all the noise that is bad advice. I'm all in favor a good lord-over when necessary.

But in Other Topic forums (where the parameters of elite are things like reg date, who you know IRL, etc.) it's completely absurd. Personally, someone who feels compelled to do this in OOT of all places, think it says alot about them.

Tuq - ahahahha - well I've never really participated in these "who do you dislike posters" threads before. I generally like everyone who posts and don't get too riled up. Finally found something that truly irritates me.
