Since this is an online poker community, many people here have their computers by their TVs so they can watch TV while they play poker. The conversation is usually totally dead during the show, but when it goes to commercial break people then comment. And since they usually leave us with the biggest shocks right before commercial you get a lot of "OMG" comments.

Even if it is the same actor it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of this show. I mean there is still a cloud of ??? that can apparently turn into whomever it wants... so, I will wait for some more episodes [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

This is off memory and assumptions but I would think it's about 5ish years or so between Ben killing his father and present day. The hatch folk were interchanging every few months, and all of a sudden no one came to relieve Inman. I'd assume this coincided with the time the natives massacred the Dharma people. Inman was there for a couple years before Desmond came to the island. And Desmond has been there for 3 years.

This is a pretty good point. That certainly makes sense from a timeline perspective. The episode also would explain why no one ever relieved Radzynski and Inman.

So say Ben is 42-43 now, in 2004. Purge happens in 1999, putting Ben at 37 or so. He probably was 10-12 when he first sees Richard, maybe he was on the island for a year or so already, so that means he and his dad came to the island in 72-73 maybe? Seems to fit since the Dharma initiative is already there at that point.

With all this crazy back story going on I'm hoping that the polar bears will be explained as well next season, if they do focus on the story of the natives as expected.

One response to the Jacob dilemna.

I think back to what happened to Desmond when the hatch exploded. Remember he was able to go back in the past and change things.

We still haven't figured out what exactly happened to Locke on that day, whether or not he was affected in the same way that Desmond was. If he has the same ability to have gone back and changed the past, then this could be how he potentially became "Jacob"
