Re: Watch Out For Ron Paul
[ QUOTE ]
How insulting to African Americans is that? Apparantly he's the only NON-racist in the House. [/ QUOTE ] You think honoring the struggle of those who fought for their civil rights 40 years before is obviously racist..... Sheesh.....no wonder you align yourself with Paul's views. |

Re: Watch Out For Ron Paul
Did you even read the article that boro posted?
I guess it doesn't matter, you've made your mind up and nothing anyone shows you will make a difference. |

Re: Watch Out For Ron Paul
[ QUOTE ]
Did you even read the article that boro posted? [/ QUOTE ] A revisionist article written in 2007, citing "anonymous sources" that directly counters facts of record from 1992, 1996, and 2001. It looks to me like the article he posted was an attempt at serious damage control. If that article is credible, answer me this: 1. Why did Paul defend the quotes as his own in 1996, four years after they were made? 2. Why did he only admit they weren't his in 2001, some 9 years later....and attribute them to a staffer, while the above article attributes them to an "anonymous outside source". If anyone is believing only what they want, it's be those of you who are clamoring over a man who has a history of supporting racial diatribes. |

[ QUOTE ] You keep asserting this. Where's your source? [/ QUOTE ] Houston Chronicle, May 23, 1996. [/ QUOTE ] It's not a source without a link. |

Re: Watch Out For Ron Paul
[ QUOTE ]
I dunno. Based on Ron's racist past, I think he might have voted against this one since he don't like the blacks. [/ QUOTE ] Do you really think that this was his thought process because of two articles he did not write but felt morally responsible for? It's a pretty massive jump. |

[ QUOTE ] You keep asserting this. Where's your source? [/ QUOTE ] Houston Chronicle, May 23, 1996. [ QUOTE ] Paul, a Republican obstetrician from Surfside, said Wednesday he opposes racism and that his written commentaries about blacks came in the context of ""current events and statistical reports of the time." [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Which commentaries? Is he explicitly referring to specifically to this one newsletter? You're a one trick pony, my friend, and it's not even that great of a trick. |

I dunno, this doesn't really sound like a racist to me. I think I'll choose to believe the hundreds of essays and speeches he's made that show him to be a principled and honorable man over some comments likely not even made by him from 15 years ago. I understand though, you disagree with his politics so you've decided to slander him by any means necessary. Congratulations . |

Re: Watch Out For Ron Paul
[ QUOTE ]
RedBeen, Did you read the link I posted earlier? [/ QUOTE ] Jay, Answer these simple questions....the ones that are continually avoided..... Why did Paul defend the racial quotes as being his own some 4 years after they were made if he "didn't agree with them" and supposedly fired the staffer that wrote them? Why did he wait until 2001, 9 years later, to first claim they weren't his words, and attempt to set the record straight....yet, continue to defend the quotes as being "in context"? |
