[ QUOTE ]
For all the mindless Bonds apologists and Bonds steriods deniers...scoreboard! [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The indictment is a home run. [/ QUOTE ] Just to continue the silly metaphors, you guys have to remember that this game has just started....it's the US vs Bonds, and it's only the top of the 1st. Bonds hasn't batted yet....not to mention that he gets last bat. And the constitution says the feds have to pitch to him. |

[ QUOTE ]
You still don't get it, which is why you are dumb. Why do you think Bonds has a case pending against him and Fainaru-Wada/Williams do not? Are you naive enough to believe that it is just a coincidence? [/ QUOTE ] The Federal Government has chosen not to pursue a case against them. That isn't anything I can control. You agree with RedBean in all the Bonds threads when he uses that logic, yet when I do I'M wrong? Please. Are Fainaru-Wada and Williams inculpable? Never said that. However, I did say they haven't been convicted of any crimes other than contempt. How many times do I need to say it? |

True or false: The authors of GoS have ever been convicted of a crime related to the book, other than refusing to reveal a source. [/ QUOTE ] This is called a strawman. |

Ya. I'm going to be the first person in the history of 2p2 to say I'm going to bed and won't post more tonight and actually do it.

Call it what you want, its really the central point to this argument that started with NT bringing up Son Of Sam laws, then starting this whole stream of retards coming in with personal attacks on me.
A straw-man is based on misrepresentation of an opponent with the single intent of knocking it down. I get it. Let's look at this step by step. [ QUOTE ] 1) # Presenting a misrepresentation of the opponent's position, refute it, and pretend that the opponent's actual position has been refuted.[1] [/ QUOTE ] NT brought up Son Of Sam laws, which is indisputable. Since the authors of Game Of Shadows have never been convicted of any crimes other than contempt, we can pretty much agree that there shouldn't be anything keeping them from working for ESPN or anybody who offers them employment. 2) [ QUOTE ] Quoting an opponent's words out of context -- i.e., choose quotations that are not representative of the opponent's actual intentions (see contextomy). [/ QUOTE ] I don't see how I could have done that since the context he brought to the table was pretty clear. He even continued with it when I described to NT exactly what Son Of Sam laws were, just so he could see how they didn't apply. 3) [ QUOTE ] Presenting someone who defends a position poorly as the defender, refute that person's arguments, and pretend that every upholder of that position, and thus the position itself, has been defeated. [/ QUOTE ] Well, NT sure did a pretty bad job of defending any position, since all he could do was throw out half-baked personal shots, but I certainly don't think he's representative of EVERYBODY with that opinion. 4) [ QUOTE ] Inventing a fictitious persona with actions or beliefs that are criticized, and pretend that the person represents a group of whom the speaker is critical. [/ QUOTE ] Nope. 5) [ QUOTE ] Oversimplifying a person's argument into a simple analogy, which can then be attacked. [/ QUOTE ] Not me, but the guy who was in this thread earlier comparing the perjury to jaywalking sure as hell did it. |

I'm going to be the second, then, to say I'm going to bed and won't post more. I've had enough of complete idiots doing nothing but flaming me when NT! apparently already blacked out and couldn't continue himself. Its almost 4 in the [censored] morning and I pretty much let 3 complete assclowns take over my night.

[ QUOTE ]
So how quickly does this become a race issue? I expect to hear Sharpton on the news any day now crying that this is only an issue because Bonds is black. [/ QUOTE ] I like how you complain about this becoming a race issue, yet you're the first (and almost only) one talking about it. Totally hypocritical and just designed to stir stuff up. Your comment is more of a knee-jerk racial reaction than anything Al Sharpton does. And FWIW, I bet race plays almost no role in anything going forward. |
