I definitely thought Mayweather won the fight. He landed over 100 more punches than DLH.

It's easy to see why he isn't a bigger draw - while he is a better boxer than DLH, he doesn't seem like a "fighter", if that makes any sense.

I can also see why many people thought DLH won more rounds than he did. It seemed like every round went Mayweather jab, jab, jab, etc. DLH flurry that lands 5-6 power punches, then 10-15 more Mayweather jabs.

whoever asked if boxing could keep up with mma anymore--this was about a million times bigger than any mma. people watching through the windows of places all over town. entire casino (not vegas) packed to watch.

this is the first fight in about 10 years that anyone has given a [censored] about. I didn't watch the fight but from what I've gathered from the posts here, it was fairly typical of a "big time fight" i.e. too much dancing and hugging. Boxing is like watching paint dry

From a casual fan's perspective, it was a boring fight. There is a lot less hugging at 154lbs than with heavyweights, but there were very few crowd-pleasing heavy exchanges. Like other posters have said, Floyd is not a crowd pleasing fighter.

meh. MMA is liking watching teenagers take baseball bats to the wall after the paint is done.

Just like boxing, MMA has a lot to offer once you understand it and know what to look for.

Edit: I think I figured out your analogy.

I scored the fight 115-113 PBF.

My other two friends who were scoring had it 115-113 PBF and 116-112 PBF, although we got there in different ways. One friend had PBF ahead comfortably early on but thought DLH caught up, the other friend and I had DLH winning early in the fight but thought PBF won the second half of the fight easily. We all gave the irrelevant 12th to DLH.

The one judge scoring it 116-112 for DLH is just more evidence that either:
a) boxing is rigged
b) the judges don't have a clue
c) the grading criteria needs to be more clearly defined
d) all of the above

I mean, if you scored it 114-114, ok, fine, I can see that. But 116-112 DLH? Really?

The judge in DLH's favor went 115-113 I believe.

Ringside punching stats favored Mayweather heavily, crediting him with landing 207 of 481 punches to 122 of 587 for De La Hoya. Mayweather also landed more power punches than De La Hoya, outscoring him 138-82.

Wow, he punches pretty well from his heels, eh?

How do you score a fight yourself? Like how does scoring work?
