Re: PPA should disassociate itself from scandal ridden CEO Poker tour
[ QUOTE ]
In a step aimed at resolving all lingering doubts about the veracity of said poker tour, they have replaced Board member Vince Foster, with esteemed White House advisor Scooter Libby. Quote, "We have long felt that when it came to Vince Foster, something didn't smell right. When it was pointed out that Vince Foster has been dead for ten years, it all fell into place. His replacement by Scooter Libby, who has long been rumored to be on the short list of candidates for Ambassador to Nigeria, should bring our trust level back to the level of the real estate sharpshooters that we are in real life." --Maria Conchita Alonzo Diaz Estephan Goldstein O'Brien, Chairperson (Also, Chief fundraiser for "Yarmulkahs for Cuban Jews.") Re: PPA should disassociate itself from scandal ridden CEO Poker tour
FWIW I was sent correspondence from CEO. The only question I had when I read it was "How does it benefit my casino?"
The answer was "it doesn't" The feeling I got from the letter was someone trying to make a litle cheese, and asking for help from the casinos to do it |

Re: PPA should disassociate itself from scandal ridden CEO Poker tour
The Board of Directors of the Poker Players Alliance met recently and after careful examination and discussion the board has decided the following:
The PPA hereby disassociates itself from CEO Poker Tour. Just to clarify to the Poker community and PPA members, the relationship between our organizations was as follows: CEO Poker Tour offered and I as the President of the PPA accepted a relationship whereby CEO Poker Tour promoted the PPA by hosting a banner at its tournament and providing lapel pins to its players in order to heighten awareness of the PPA. The board was not consulted in this arrangement as we typically accept any help that is provided, at no cost to the PPA, to broaden our base and help increase awareness and increase our membership. We have asked the CEO Poker Tour to return the Poker Players Alliance banner and any remaining lapel pins that they may have. Just to clarify, this was a non-monetary relationship. The PPA received no money, nor paid money to CEO Poker Tour, and the relationship was only meant to increase awareness of the PPA. We are not in the business, nor is it in our organization’s scope, to evaluate and endorse any organization that seeks to promote awareness of the PPA and its fight to defend poker. We are not a governing or regulatory body for tournaments, casinos, dealers, etc., nor do we seek to be. We are an organization that promotes the rights of poker players in the political arena at a Federal and State level. At the urging of the membership, we have sought to put together CEO Poker and the World Poker Association to resolve this issue, but per this announcement the PPA will have no further involvement with CEO Poker. They offered a $23,400 settlement to players of the $2500 main event but the damages go much further than that.... |

*applause* [/ QUOTE ] Very nice letter ,but lets face it ,all they did was get the hell away from CEO as fast as they could. It seems any money recovery help will not come via the PPA's help, but will be on an individual basis in a civil matter/class-action type suit,or if criminal wrongdoings are found by the NVGB,attorney generals office or the FBI on some RICO statute where victims may be eligible for some form of monetary restitution Its still early and its only just begun, and to be quite honest I didnt think the PPA was going to do much anyway, with the egg on their face in the first place, with its original shakey endorsement of the CEO Poker Tour to begin with! ~stephen feraca |

Re: PPA should disassociate itself from scandal ridden CEO Poker tour
Stephen Feraca,
I think legal action by the PPA would just be bad for everybody. They need to focus on getting somebody into office that has enough pull to reverse the internet debacle. Unfortunately, litigation against a poker entity would only give more ammo to the people currently in power. I do encourage you to pursue the issue in court, because I'm a fan of justice. |

[/ QUOTE ] There is NO doubt that the #1 priority of the PPA should be concentrating on reversing the gaming bill as that affects everyone, but abit more care should take place in associating themselves with crooks IMO with regard to what seemed like a harmless "partnership". I think alot of people learned a lesson here, esp. us poker players reading what we are signing before entering a tournament I know I did! ~stephen |
