I don't like the shootout deal either. First of all it's a HU shootout but to win your seat you have to play 6 or 9 player SnGs - why such a drastic change in format? And for the most part the group A person is going to have to get pretty lucky to win against a group C/D person.

I think the finale should be the top 10 non-duplicate overall leaders of each group get to play in a SnG (or 10 player tourney) against each other within their group for like ~5x the first place payout ($250, $1000, $2000, $5000) with normal SnG payouts.

I think the final should be comprised of the players who occupy all the prime numbered positions of each group (this ensures the winners get through, but also gives all players a chance). These people should then play a series of double shootout sngs, with one player who didn't win from each table selected (not using FTP's RNG, 'cause that's obviously rigged) according to a formula that is partly random, but is also inversely proportionate to the finishing position, so as to increase the chance that a low ranked finisher is able to get through, even though they might have lost the SNG.
these second chance players should then be able to play, much like a rowing repecharge, with the final winner of these repecharges able to progress through to the final table, where chips are distributed according to a vote of all participating players who will be able to rank the quality of cards that each player received along the way.
