Re: Six Years in Las Vegas
Cold weather sucks. Places with cold weather suck. Hence, Boston and Chicago suck HARD.
I went to Chicago one time in early March to purchase a vehicle. The high was 23 degrees that day, but omg it was sunny. I made a comment about how horrible the weather was, and the salesman looked at me like I was crazy. "What are you talking about, it's sunny outside and 23!" Any place where the citizens get a hard on over 23 degrees in early MARCH can suck it. Driving home even made me more pissed off because my new balla car was getting salt all over it from the crappy roads due to snow. Gimme warm weather where the broads aren't pale bayyybe. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] the scenery is really ugly within 15-20 miles of the city [/ QUOTE ] Not to be a super-nit, but Red Rocks Canyon is just outside Vegas and is stunning. In fact, it has become one of the top "winter destination" rock climbing areas in the world. (BTW - I love Boston.) Also, good luck Dynasty I hope this year you break through in a big way. [/ QUOTE ] yup, red rock canyon is sweet, and hoover dam is one of my favorite places in the world, as strange as that may sound (i have my reasons). as far as most of my stuff being meaningless that is completely untrue. A) what are you going to argue that the wheel is a meaningless invention? it is the foundation for what we have today in more advanced tires. all of these Boston firsts set the foundation to build on. B) these things have influenced the history of Boston and made it such a beautiful and cultured city today. sure it doesn't make the golf course any better because it was the first one, but the area around it is what it is today because of it and it's importance to golf in America (plus, it's home to the greatest American Ryder cup in golf history). plus we just got the big ticket (kevin garnett). Dare I say world series, NBA championship and superbowl all in one year? |

Re: Six Years in Las Vegas
the cold weather makes you appreciate the warm weather so much more, plus we can ice-skate, ski, throw snow balls, have snow fights, and most importantly, snow days bitches. plus other places that have warm weather in the winter, are too hot in the summer. lord knows the best time of the year is summer time when you get outta school and just party all the time with all the girls looking so good. i live in scottsdale now, and its like a ghost-town in the summer, it sucks.

Re: Six Years in Las Vegas
[ QUOTE ]
the 2nd-city was a nickname that Chicago gave itself when it used to be the 2nd largest city in America, now it's not, but call your city that if you like. chicago is a nice city, don't get me wrong. downtown is pretty great, but it's no Boston. Boston is a city of firsts. it is the oldest major city in America, first Church in America, first public park, first country club, first high school, first public school, first lighthouse, first public library, first subway and bus system, first college, oldest baseball park, the oldest and most coveted marathon in the world, the first chocolate mill. I literally could go on for pages about Boston's firsts. we are home to the world-famous new england falls, and summer destinations within a short drive. skiing in the winter. our seafood is world renown. o ya, you may call yourself "the 2nd city" but Boston is "the HUB!" Boston is the smartest city in the world, not-debatable. more than 250,000 students attend college in Boston (at some of the best colleges in the world) My high school was represented by the most countries of any school in the the US, and my town is the most economically diverse in the US. it is the second biggest stop for refugees from opressive countries. oh yea, I guess Boston isn't that important in the "grand scheme of things" unless you are glad we are a country free of British rule. Maybe you forgot about "one if by land, two if by sea," Paul Revere, the Boston Tea Party and all that. I guess you're not much for history or appreciating the city that paved the way for your city. Chicago is a real international port there, and America just wouldn't be the same without it?!? Boston was the most important city until the mid 1800's. Things would not be the same today were it not for Boston, and it reflects in the city and it's culture today. clearly you have never been to Boston, and I have surely been to chicago. please sir, return to your cookie-cutter suburb and stick to w/e it is you do best, because it's certainly not defending your city. [/ QUOTE ] It can't be all that, they don't even have paragrahs. edited because I left out the "t" in it. |

Re: Six Years in Las Vegas
I have always had a lot of respect for Dynasty and this thread just confirms my position. What you are reading isn’t a tragedy or a gamble-holic gone bad, this is real life just like what happens everyday. Poker magazines don’t write about it and it never makes the final edit of a poker TV show but I am really glad that Dynasty cares enough about the two plus two community to give us the actual facts.
I am absolutely convinced that writing the sixth year post was a difficult task and I stand in awe that he did it. If you read this and think, “Wow, Dynasty sucks at Poker!” you are a clueless noob. Ninety five percent of all new businesses fail and they all struggle with capital. This is a story of someone running a business, taking a couple of swift kicks in the nuts, and landing on his feet. A lot of the posters here on two plus two are young and may read Dynasty’s thread and not understand what they are reading so I want to weigh in (and that is a considerable weight) to give my perspective. |

Agreed with others that Dynasty posts are awesome. I apologize for participating in the side-track. I should have realized what would happen.

Re: Six Years in Las Vegas
This thread is very good, and I greatly enjoyed the insight from someone who started playing before I did, and professionally at that!
But where did this Boston vs Las Vegas and now Chicago [censored] start. Cut it out and stop acting childish. |

Please stop with the Boston vs. Chicago vs. Vegas hijack!! You guys are ruining a great thread. If you wanna argue about this take it to Travel or OOT or something.
