please tell me somebody else just watched tonight's poker after dark and saw Phil Helmuth and the A2 hand where he went off on sheeki (sp?) when hellmuth called w/ A2pf from the sb, donk/called the 256 flop and then c/f the turn and went ape [censored], LOL, I was almost in tears

i have posted this somewhere before, but i'd like to again.

how many of you feel poker and a golf swing are very similar?

my reasons being:

often it takes a small tweak to make your game much, much better

sometimes unless you change something fundamental you will never be able to beat the tough games/opponents

at the top, the mental side is the most important factor to distinguish between the best players.

i'd almost say i was at the same level in golf and poker. i've learnt by myself pretty much with a few lessons/books, got up to a good enough level where i can beat the average okay regular i play against (i play off 18 or so but can be pretty variable), and i can get down to 10 or so with my current swing, but to get down to 5 or so i'd need to change some fundamentals/mindset.

i feel in both given how long ive played for, i could adapt those fundamentals pretty quickly as i know a lot about different swings/styles, just in both i need to take the time and money to improve (coaching).

however, i don't have the time to spend on either, so coaching feels kinda pointless, hence i instead try to plod on enjoying both and if i play well enough (play to 18, or grind out a 3ptbb/100 profit 6mt ratio) then im happy enough.

ill stop rambling, just feel suceeding in poker is much like that in golf, and likely many other sports.

ill be back to my normal self in a few hours ranting about someone's 14 outer.
