Torre is still going to be confused for years with the "joba rules" and what their purpose is

Who's up with 5 rbis already? Mikey Lowell has graduated from "stud" to "Dr. Love" like from the Kiss song.

They call me, Mikey Lowell
They call me Mikey Lowell, calling Mikey Lowell

I am the Mikey of Lowell!

Doesn't have the same ring to it.

How about this:

Sacre bleu! Alors! Quel dommage! Oui oui, bon bon, Jean Valjean!

So who's going on the playoff roster? Here's the active roster. My picks with asterisk:

Active Roster
Pitchers
19 Josh Beckett *
61 Clay Buchholz *
41 Bryan Corey
17 Manny Delcarmen *
83 Eric Gagne *
43 Devern Hansack
31 Jon Lester
48 Javier Lopez *
18 Daisuke Matsuzaka *
37 Hideki Okajima *
58 Jonathan Papelbon *
38 Curt Schilling *
39 Kyle Snyder
51 Julian Tavarez *
50 Mike Timlin *
49 Tim Wakefield *

Catchers
36 Kevin Cash
28 Doug Mirabelli *
33 Jason Varitek*

Infielders
11 Royce Clayton
13 Alex Cora *
12 Eric Hinske *
25 Mike Lowell *
23 Julio Lugo *
15 Dustin Pedroia *
20 Kevin Youkilis *

Outfielders
10 Coco Crisp *
7 J.D. Drew *
46 Jacoby Ellsbury *
32 Bobby Kielty
44 Brandon Moss
24 Manny Ramirez *

Designated Hitters
34 David Ortiz *

In a 5 game series, I don't think they need 12 pitchers but I thought there was more value carrying Tavarez, my 12th pitcher over Keilty who may still be hurting. If Keilty is healthy, then I drop Tavarez for him.

I received an email from a coworker who said a source at ESPN sent his son a rumored ALDS roster. I have no idea the validity of it, but it's basically your roster with Lester instead of Gagne.

Wow, I'd be pretty surprised if Gagne got left off despite his trials and tribulations.

God, I hope so! How could you leave Lester off?

I would've thought they'd bump Lopez (their lefty reliever) or maybe Delcarmen, but I'm absolutely delighted to hear it might be Gagne.

I waited longer than most of you before I gave up on Gagne, but I gave up on him nonetheless.

I think the reason they are going to be hesitant to be Lester on the playoff roster is because IIRC, he has little to no experience in relief, and he's obviously not going to be starting games.

He always seems to have rough starts to his outing, obviously his last one was an exception but in general, it takes him a few innings to get in rhythm, which is impossible in a relief role. All this adds up to Tavares being the "long relief" type guy, since he has plenty of experience starting and coming out of the pen, and Gagne being on the roster despite his troubles with the Sox.

Lopez sucks, but I can't imagine they'd go into the playoffs without a lefty specialist.

Gagne has looked a little better of late, though still has control problems, but I wouldn't feel too bad if he wasn't on the roster. How comfortable would you feel bringing him in a 3 run game with Jeter/Abreu/ARod coming up?
