to echo snipes

not trying to come off as arrogant

but if you are happy with your life, and you are making enough money to do what you love and enjoy, i definitely consider you very successful. and i would envy that success.

it just so happens i want to make more money to find whatever it is ill love and enjoy.

if that makes me materialistic and a douchebag in your eyes, so be it, im not doing this to please you guys

i think bobbo kinda hit the nail on the head. nobody hear is arguing that u cant 'subsist' on 100k/yr and that it completely depends on what type of lifestyle you are accustomed to/want to live.

Do you realize how many families are making nowhere close to that?

[/ QUOTE ]

seriously, can we drop this line of thinking completely, its retarded

[/ QUOTE ]

It was in response to Snipes's claim that $100k isn't enough to support a family even if we aren't trying to live some lavish lifestyle. It's plenty.

[/ QUOTE ]

ya i dunno, just because some people do it does not mean that it 'can be done.'

i feel like im coming off like a douche, but a better way to think about it A5 might be while your parents were able to do that for you, is that what you want for your kids? you always felt that it was plenty?

i am from south florida and i guess i have lived a pretty sheltered/privileged life thus far, but I do not feel like I am completely ignorant in these respects. a $600,000 home where I live is just not big at all, its like 2500 sqft maybe, maybe depending on location etc.

i dont even know what I am trying to say and am doing my best not to be an arrogant ass but I echo a lot of what JoD is saying. I go to a good school, am driven, will get a good job, work hard and would be extremely disappointed in myself (barring any ridiculous unforeseen changes) if I am not able to at least provide what my parents provided for me.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know what you're trying to say and I don't think you are coming off as a d-bag or anything. In South Florida with a 600k house and a family, yeah I can bet $100k probably isn't enough. But in most parts of America, you can get by with $100k very very easily. I think that I could raise a family with $100k a year and be very well off personally. Of course more is always better, but nobody was arguing against that. If my parents could make $30-40k a year work, then I'm sure with $100k a year I could give my family plenty of luxuries and live a very privileged life. I don't think I'm being overly optimistic, either.

now buying multiple CARS, then you could say theres no point to that and call me a douchebag

houses are completely different

[/ QUOTE ]

R U SERIOUS?

Some people (I'm not one of them) like cars so much, that some days they wanna drive nice car X and other days they want to drive nice car Z. If they have the means to do that, how does that make them a douchebag?

How can you possibly call someone a douchebag for deriving more pleasure out of having multiple nice cars instead of multiple nice houses? Oh that's right, because your personal opinion is counter to that.
