so, are we willing to concede that the Yankees are now the favorite in the AL East? [/ QUOTE ] If by 'favorite' you mean 'favorite to win the AL East', then no, they are not the favorite. 1) Even if they take the lead, they aren't guaranteed to keep it. 2) BOS travels to TB this weekend. 3) They still are 1.5 games back. 4) If NYY get the lead this weekend, it appears that Torre and Co. will want to hang onto it. Maybe Riverra will pitch a few 30+ innings throughout the week, Posada can catch almost every day, and Arod and Cano can play every day. I don't see why they would rest them now since they obviously care about winning the division more than the Red Sox do. 5) (not really a 5th point ) Even if BOS only wins the WC, travel will suck, but some of BOS key players will be well well rested. So, the worst might really just be having to hear about it for a week. craig edited to add: 4 and 5 really don't support my argument |

You know you suck when you're favorite team's fan's only excitement is when you are possibly playing spoiler. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, the worst part of this whole thing is going to be when they roll over for the Yankees this weekend and lose all 4. |

[ QUOTE ] I make this post about three or four times a year. The latest was two weeks ago: [ QUOTE ] Every time I watch these Jays, I wonder how they're not a .600 club. They got bats, starters, relievers...and they struggle to stay above .500 No wonder Hinske lost his mind up there. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Honestly this year, it was 1) injuries (tons, and wells has been playing hurt and is getting surgery) 2) terrible with runners in scoring position and 2 outs 3) brutal team speed which means we can't play small ball Next year we should challenge the whole year [/ QUOTE ] by small ball you mean stupid ball right? that's pretty much a good thing... small ball "play" generally hurts teams |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
Sox fans who live in Boston,
What is the mood there? I'm not sure I could handle it. Is it like all that anyone talks about right now? Empathizing, IMS |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
^^ I'd imagine it's quelled a little bit by the Patriots being the best team in the NFL. But still most likely depressing.

[/ QUOTE ] I haven't lived in BOS for a while, so not qualified to comment on the mood, but I am jealous that the Pats are doing it for you. Pats are definitely my favorite football team, but there is nothing the Patriots could do to make BOS losing in the post-season bearable. craig |
