It's pretty common for kids with scholarship potential to migrate to the programs they will get the most exposure in. Either living with relatives in that district or the family actually moving. Enough so that I doubt if there's much underhanded recruiting going on. Though a few of the High School programs have booster clubs that some colleges would envy.

In the Washington DC area, the powerhouses were generally private schools that gave scholarships to the top athletes.

127 VPP to go, I need to hurry up and bust.

I normally keep my windows up instead of using A/C (live in SF, top floor of apt. building) but the Blue Angels keep flying overhead and they're loud as [censored]. Pretty cool to see them flying around the Bay in formation though when you're walking around/driving.
