lol at the official fifa world cup site...

no mention of the howler the official had. in fact, they mention the referee's "easy decision" to card/eject players on a couple of occasions. funny.

Portugal is dirty as hell. Ugly game.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was wondering when someone else would state the obvious. All I read in this thread was "those dirty Dutch" - uhhh, ok. No Dutch players headbutted the opposition. No Dutch players simulated a broken face to get a player ejected.

The referee lost the plot when Figo stayed on and Bouhlarouz was sent off.

[/ QUOTE ]

The stunt the Dutch player pulled by attacking instead of playing the ball out on the drop ball was far worse than anything that anyone on the Portugal side did.

I would understand if it was a portuguese player putting the ball out of bounds (as he could easily do it to waste time with fake injuries) but it was the referee who stoped a dangerous portuguese counter-attack to give medical assistance to some injured player.
Even worse was missleading the portuguese player that was about to dispute the drop ball that he would pass the ball to the portuguese team.

Really [censored] low-life.

Well whoever scores wins in this [censored] game.

Doesn't matter who deserves it or has more chanches.

[censored] variance.

Only why Ruud didn't play at all annoys me.

1. Yes, the ref lost control of the match but continuing showing cards was the only means he had left to protect the players from each other. If he gave Bouhlarouz the red card for his brutal attack in the 6th minute this probably would not have happened.

2. I am disappointed by the Dutch for showing very weak mental strength. The Portuguese very successfully steered this game into chaos and the Dutch forgot that they need to play to score. Confusion everywhere instead.

3. This was a very rare case that I rooted for the Dutch during the last 15 minutes. Another 30 minutes of this battle would have had some potential...

4. Thus, I was not amazed that the ref stopped the game shortly after the 6 minutes stoppage time. I guess, apart from the Portuguese contingent he was the only one rooting for the match to be over rather sooner than later.

I agree. For the soccer noobs here: This is considered to be a capital crime in soccer. It is almost the only unwritten rule in that sport that is followed to (well, almost) 100%.

notice the ball and notice Robben would be one on one with the keeper (luckily there was an offside before that). Also notice it's Nuno Valente, he's not violent he's just stupid.
