Re: Adults dupe teen into MySpace-assisted suicide
[ QUOTE ]
I think we're being very results oriented with our thinking here. If the little girl hadn't killed herself, would we really have such a negative view of the other girl's parents? [/ QUOTE ] The parents are obviously borderline retarded. They were acting in an unbelieveably juvenile manner and were teaching their kid how to become an awful human being. |

Re: Adults dupe teen into MySpace-assisted suicide
People are being so f*cking results-oriented on this that it's ridiculous. They didn't kill her, they train-wrecked her MySpace page. If she got all emo and killed herself, that's not their fault. Seriously, if this story was just "bitchy 13 year old blows off her best friend and then the parents help trainwreck her MySpace page", people would just think this was a funny story.

Re: Adults dupe teen into MySpace-assisted suicide
These people are clearly responsible for this girl's death, but it's not quite the same thing as being legally responsible, at least criminally (civilly I do think they might be). The thing is, if they decided these people are somehow legally responsible for this girl's suicide, then what about every other suicide? They are all a result of some kind of emotional damage done by other people. I'm sure you could consider people responsible for their suicides, but again should they be legally responsible? This case is a little different because it was premeditated and flat out evil, but it's just such a huge gray area.

[/ QUOTE ] It would be a funny story exactly because the parents were so douchy and were trying to get involved in their kids life to that degree. Still though, no one would be saying they should be taken to jail or that they deserved to be kill. Equating this to murder or even man-slaughter is just downright silly. Suicide is no one's fault but the victim's. |
