Looks good to me as well. Since you decided to continue on the flop (questionable, but not wrong IMO), your raise was perfect. You have tainted overs and backdoor everything that may or may not be good. You got to the showdown cheap and paired which is good. If you get 3-bet on the flop, assume you are calling flop and folding UI on the turn?

Well played IMO, but when others say fold the flop, can't really disagree with that either. Guess the other players' playable hand standards become very important here in your decision.

I've almost never raised the flop like this before, and that's the reason I posted the hand. I guess everyone else thinks it to be standard.

In this hand I got lucky it worked out. I called the river and he showed TT, MHIG. SB (who raised pre and checked the flop) was bicyclekick. He had AK, so my raise actually accomplished something

i don't like that the loose passive guy bet the flop but the pot is big and you are probably getting enough odds to call if you had 1 SB left in front of you (assuming somehow the PFR would fold), and you can probably get a free card since the bettor is passive

Ugh. All the suited hands are super easy calls. J9o would be a call. Q5s would be a call.

Actually, J9s and 89s are good for a raise.

I don't think raising the flop in every situation similar to this is standard, but in this particular case, everything lines up to make the raise right. If you take away some of the factors, then this isn't a raise, but here: You have bk sitting there with overcards, so you have a real chance of cleaning up some outs. With your backdoor draws, you have okay equity on the flop, so you don't mind putting in some more money. The bettor is passive so you don't get three-bet too often and you are likely to induce him to check the turn. You can't win this without helping (by bluffing or by winning a showdown), so you don't mind checking behind on the turn if you miss.
