Re: Venetian Poker Room
[ QUOTE ]
A bunch of great promotions are going to happen starting May 1st. I don't wanna get busted writing what'd amount to a shill post, unless people (i.e. a mod) would be cool with me listing everything. [/ QUOTE ] The rumor I heard was that a jackpot drop was going to be added w/out an extra drop and there's going to be a 500k freeroll if you play 50 hours in a month. I also agree that offering cheap food would probably work out really well, but I haven't heard anything about this. I don't work at the Venetian and none of this is first hand, just what I heard. |

Re: Venetian Poker Room
Venetian is (or was back in 2000 whenI stayed there) a beautiful property. I believe they hired Kathy Raymond, the Foxwoods poker director to run the room. If so, she is very professional and did an excellent job at Fox overall. I'd bet on them at least making a run at being a good room.

Re: Venetian Poker Room
Played The Venetian Poker room on Tuesday March 18th. Great looking room, great location in the Casino, plenty of rail for looky-lues to come into the games. Have read some grouchy comments about the room being too close to the doors and how this would affect the temp of the room. I was seated a ways from the doors, but cant imagine them being a huge issue. (there are also several doors that lead directly outside, but these appear to be for emergency use and I never saw anyone exiting this way.
Played N/L $2-5 blinds: The action was good, competition slightly higher than the rest of Vegas (which isn't saying much) The competition was similar to the $5-10 N/L game at Bellagio. They only had 2 N/L tables going in the evening and ran a two-table N/L tourni with a decent structure. Slow room may be due to WPT being at Bellagio as well as the newness of the Venetian room itself. No dealer issues and mgmnt was very friendly. I'm still a bigger fan of Bellagio for unlimited action in about any game you want. Never had a problem with mngmt such as I've read about on here. The Venetian should become a viable room within 4 months. It takes time for each new room time to establish. |

Re: Venetian Poker Room
I played there yesterday. I showed up around 11:00AM and there were two $2/5 NL tables running. I have to say that is better than Caesars on most days at 11:00AM.
I love the location of the room in the casino. Getting around the Venetian can be like navigating a maze so I'm pleased it is by the front door. The room itself is spacious and the staff was friendly. The players at my table were soft. I hope this room does well. |

Re: Venetian Poker Room
I was there last week to check it out. They only had 4 tables going on a Saturday. However, they are starting a bunch of promotions in May and are starting a poker room rate so hopefully these will bring some action there.

Re: Venetian Poker Room

[ QUOTE ] Why go to all the effort and expense to build a (reportedly) beautiful facility without doing everything possible to cultivate mid and high limit games? Are they planning on doing anything in this regard? [/ QUOTE ] Heavy advertising campaign is likely in the books starting in a week or so. Some of the shift managers on up have juice with various players all around and are trying to bring the games over - all the action being at Bellagio with the WPT detered action everywhere these past couple weeks, even Wynn took a small hit. And as with all new rooms, it's opened slow. Wynn opened slow and look where they are now, one year later. It's pretty much patience at this point with a slow build towards late-May/early-June and the tons of WSOP action hitting town which should have the room jammed to the gills. [/ QUOTE ] After reading your posts in regards to the Venetian, Im guessing you work there. Lets not fool everyone here. The Venetian is barely staying open. There are never any good games, too many dealers standing around, inexperienced room manager, horrible tournaments, expensive food ect ect ect ect..... I can almost promise in 6months the room closes due to lack of profit. How could it not? Overpaid underexperiened staff, too many dealers, 4 to 5 running cash games, no tournament action. I bet room service makes more money in the poker room bringing food than the dealers drop in rake. Good luck anyway. Just be honest. I am referring to you talking about the juicy 2-5 NL games there. What day was this? Never....... Jenn- |

I am referring to you talking about the juicy 2-5 NL games there. What day was this? Never....... Jenn- [/ QUOTE ] Yesterday, for one. 3-4 tables of 2-5 NL going, tons of action, tons of bad play. While I was guilty of a bad play or two of my own, I still managed to sextuple up. |

I can almost promise in 6months the room closes due to lack of profit. How could it not? [/ QUOTE ] After putting all that effort into building such a nice room there is no way they will close it after just 6 months. Do you think that they have to turn an immediate profit in order to survive? Gee, I wonder if the Venetian makes any money in areas other than poker? If it does badly they would go with different management in there before closing it entirely. If the casino goes under different management then perhaps THEY will want to get rid of poker there (since it wasn't there call to bring it in to begin with). So yes...it's possible they could close at some point. But I don't think a place puts together THAT nice a space just to give it only 6 mths to prove itsself. |
