I think the reaction to the OP was unnecessary and off base. Why would PokerStars make a post on 2+2 about overlay in the $1m? Will that all of a sudden get 2+2ers to sign up who otherwise would not have? Of course not. Now, if you don't like someone talking about overlay tournies then fine, say that. But don't jump to conclusions based on pure speculation. I see no connection between him and PokerStars.

im still confused...can someone, in detail explain overlay. is it when there is a lot more money in the pot than there should be like in a guarenteed tournament...isnt this good??

also, are there going to be 400 places guarenteed in the 500k on party...is that going to be overlay??

Overlay is when a site doesn't reach their "Guarantee".

600 something entries in a $100 - 9.

600*100 = 60k.

Prize pool is still 100k.

Overlay = Good

If you see a possible overlay, you keep your mouth shut to avoid more possible entires, therefore destroying any possibility of an overlay.

Well I doubt there will be an overlay in the Party tournament. It only required 2500 entires. The Stars though requires 5000 for there not to be an overlay, which is a possibility.

And yes 400 places would still be paid in the Party $215 in the unlikely event an overlay occurs.

dont think companies get pissed off....i saw an overlay on pary by like 200,000...or do they make so much money they dont mind

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Party has never had a 200k overlay.

I don't see the sites minding the occasional overlay since they make more in a minute than my life is worth.
