[ QUOTE ] time to lock the thread? [/ QUOTE ] Could be. Or we could all discuss our favorite flowers or something? [/ QUOTE ] I'm far too manly to ever discuss something like that. What about our favourite cars? |

Re: Forgive me Father, for I have sinned?
The way this played, its hard to read Hero as having a big PP like JJ, just calling down on all streets until the flop. A lot of people play JTs this way. An agressive villian plays AK they way it played out. QQ doesn't seem likely with a A on the board.

Re: Forgive me Father, for I have sinned?
I started thinking that I needed to test how to use a converter..... then how to make it funny and memorable.
Not sure if I SUCKceeded. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Button ($90.05) SB ($213.30) BB ($88.30) UTG ($163.85) Hero ($104.75) CO ($80.25) Preflop: Hero is MP with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. This woulda been fun at a B&M after he hits his Q and then to see my one-outer show up. |

Re: Forgive me Father, for I have sinned?
OK, so you know you made a mistake. I'm not going to beat you up for it -- you've already gotten OODLES of that in the thread. Instead, I'm going to explain WHY this was a mistake.
Let's assume that villain is not the type of player who is going to make this move without at least TPTK. What possible hands could he hold, and what combinations give him that holding? AKs: 3 combinations AKo: 9 combinations AJo: 2 combinations AJs: 1 combination A3o: 7 combinations A3s: 2 combinations J3o: 3 combinations 33: 3 combinations AA: 3 combinations That gives a grand total of 33 possible hands. Your decision to call is the decision of whether to risk $70 to win $140, so the pot is offering you right around 2-to-1 odds. That means that if your hand wins 1/3 of the time, you make a long-run profit by calling. Now, you're losing to exactly three hand combinations. That means that if you can find just two more possible hand combinations that he COULD have, you make a profit by calling. Even if we eliminate MOST of these combinations based on his preflop raise, I still find it impossible to eliminate AKs and AJs from his hand range, even with no reads. That alone has you winning 4/7ths of the time. However, most SSNL players do this with AKo as well, which puts you squarely in the lead, winning 13/16ths of the time. You COULD be us against AA, sure, but with middle set you can't be certain. People are willing to go to the felt with TPTK in this game, and you need to be calling this type of push when you've got a hand as strong as JJJ. I hope that helps to explain not just that you were wrong in folding, but WHY you were wrong in folding. |
