[/ QUOTE ]Awesome. 7:17. I kid you not.

I'm not such a big fan of the format of the puzzle, though. Am I missing how to "pencil" in marks, or is that feature really missing? I'm used to something more like the full version, pictured here:

(Look how many pencil marks that player made in 28 seconds. That's pretty intense.)

Am a moron for not being able to figure-out how to pencil, or am I moron for needing to pencil?

edit: Found this in the OP:[ QUOTE ]
* Pencil marking is allowed.

[/ QUOTE ]I guess I must be a moron for not being able to figure-out the interface.

You can do pencil marking. On the websudoku page, click on Options, then mark the pencil marking option.

[/ QUOTE ]I did that, but all it does is allow me to put more than one number in each box. Is there a difference between penciling a single number and WRITING a single number?

I suppose I could "pencil" by beginning the string with a 0. So penciling a 1 would be "01". This is still way less structured to the interface shown above, with the grid of pencils.

Pencil marking is good to write in all of the possible values that a cell could have upon first inspection. The more advanced solving techniques start with this (known as candidate values) and eliminate them until there is only 1 left, which is the value of the cell.

Notce on your screenshot, that there's an option called "Automark" that's been enabled. Basically, that automatically pencils in all candidate values for each empty cell (based on non-duplicates in row, column, and box).
