There is nothing mysterious about this if you ask me.

They would pay everybody's rake back at Monday, but now some people must have exploited this 'free money bug' you mentioned. So what they are doing, is that they are checking everybody's history to see if they have abused their system, before they pay the rake back. That's why it takes longer than it should.
