You have to get up really early in the morning, and walk down rows of corn ripping the tassle of the top of a corn stalk to keep the plants from pollinating among themselves. It allows for seed companies to genetically modify or selectivly breed better seeds for the next year. Physical labor early in the morning in the middle of nowhere. Pretty sucky, glad I grew up in a city and never had to do this.

No I worked on a farm where we had the inmates pretty well under control. Still, it was an extremely emotionally draining job. Being surrounded by concrete, iron bars and the crap of society will do that to you. In training, they told us CO's have the highest suicide rate of any career. I believe 'em.

EDIT: One fellow CO told me about an inmate that took the time to stuff turdage into an empty toothpaste tube so he could squirt it on an officer walking by. What a [censored] prison genius.

One summer I worked as a garbageman. I learned that hot, smelly, wet, heavy, maggot-covered garbage sucks. To make matters worse, I didn't have my D class license, so I was the designated picker on the back of the truck for the full 10 hours each shift while the other guy got to sit in the air-conditioned truck on his ass and watch TV all day.
