I've played all the Bay Area clubs. I live in Sacramento now and go down to the Grand or San Pablo once in a while. The Cal Grand games are definitely the juiciest, especially the 6-12. We also have the Lucky Derby in Citrus Heights. They have 8-16 and 15-30 on weekends, plus no limit.

I have never played NL there so am not sure, but I think the $100 is: The BB was $2, the SB $1, and the button another $1. And they probably rake $3 and take $1 for jackpot.

Capitol Casino in Sac is a nice, clean joint, with a bunch of soft kill games up to 9-18 IIRC. Cache Creek is also close but the casino allows smoking, so smoke drifts into the poker room. Casino San Pablo has the same smoke problem unless that has changed in the last year.

Bay 101 is the only cardroom spreading large limit holdem.
Last time I was there they had 40/80, and 80/160 going.

Went to AJ's last night around 7 (I think), room was overflowing, huge lists for 3/6 and 6/12, didnt even bother staying. Never seen it that busy.

I hit AJ's infrequently in late afternoons and early evenings (taking the Caltrain home daily does have its advantages from time to time). The wait's been pretty long (half-hour-ish plus) unless I show up right around 4pm most days (shift change -- they typically add a table or two as soon as the dealers clock in); I'm a low-limit guy, but I play $6/$12 there because the skill level seems to be approximately the same as the $0.50/$1 Party games.

I can't speak to the food (smells good, that's all I've got) or the tournaments.

I live exactly 3 freeway exits away from Casino San Pablo. I was a 3-6/4-8 stud player there for the first couple of years until the games dried up and made a pretty good second income from it. Besides sticking my head in a Reno game occasionally, I haven't been a regular to any B&M for years.

After about a 2 year hiatus from poker all-together, I'm slowly making the transition to Hold'em, mostly tournament, as I seem to be having a tougher transition to the Hold'em ring games from stud than to tournament HE which I always did ok in.

Does anyone know if Casino SP still holding the $20 buy-in+rebuy NL tourneys on Sat?
