Until Nomar gets hurt. He can't play 162 games out there. Choi has more upside than Saenz and is cheaper. How hard will the NL west be to win this year? 4 games above .500? LAD should have tried for something at least.

Yeah, maybe they should have tried for something, even a draft pick, but the Dodger farm is loaded. Choi just isn't part of their future. He has more upside, but Saenz is there because he's a veteran, so he'll be plan B if Nomar gets hurt, James Loney from Vegas will be plan C, and a trade will be plan D.

Dodgers win in this transaction.

choi projects to have a better season then nomar.

i dont know what is more odd. that the dodgers released him, or that otehr teams passed on him before the sox grabbed him.

I'm not about to throw around PETCOA numbers or that kind of [censored]. I speak as someone who watches every Dodger game and the guy was a nightmare.

Huge errors in the field, priceless double play balls, or a key strikeout when contact was all that was needed.

Furthermore, why was Choi on waivers? Doesn't this mean the Dodgers determined they didn't have room for him on their roster?

just to pile on..................

chois #1 PECOTA comp?

2003 david ortiz with a score of 50

this red sox team reminds me of the 2003 roster anyways. stacked bench with a lot of tough decisions to be made early on.

the gap between the NYY and boston keeps closing.

Choi is nothing but a backup first basemen He's a good backup, but a backup none the less.

The Cleveland Indians already have a first baseman better than Choi in Ben Broussard. They have a quality backup in Eduardo Perez. They have a decent prospect in Ryan Garko. There is no reason for the Indians to pay $750k AND be forced to waive somebody when they have capable players at every role that Choi could fill.

i am the pure opposite, i pay almost no attention to what i see, as i happen to put my own spin on the scene way too much.

i have read that choi has one option left, which makes this move even more-so retarded. of course, if thats not the case then yea, they decided he didnt fit on the 25.

If he still had an option then I really don't get it.

Maybe he had a fallout with somebody?
Which is difficult since he speaks little english.
Maybe his translator set him up ?

I know you are joking, but was Paul fired before or after the Nomar signing?

in your opinion. personally, i think he should start for the red sox and youk at 3B. if a guy can start at 1B for a 90 win+ team, then hes not a 'solid backup'.

his top 3 comps for this year are:

ortiz 2003
kusick 1976
durazo 2001
hafner 2004

those are not 'backup' seasons. of course he may not have a season like any of those guys, but his career to this point shows huge similarities to guys ready to "breakout".
