This is probably a requirement to help them prevent money laundering. As the industry becomes more and more legitimate, this is probably something that we'll see more of. Since you don't have to actually verify anything when setting up your player account at AP, they're probably just trying to get a little "know your customer" action on the money movements out.

But you're right about the shoddy service in this exchange. They definitely need to improve the way their handling their new policy, or it's going to cost them in the long run.

Of course your right but I think your life might be easier if you just try sending it a second time rather than trying to prove to support that your right. I usually expect this type of stuff from support email.

i contacted AP security, here is what i was told:

(ME)
Hello, this letter is in correspondence to the following message:

"I also wanted to inform you all that AP has a new cashier policy in place.

For any w/d of $3,000 or more, your account has to be certified.

You simply have to fax in a copy of an I.D. and a utility bill or something
that shows your name and address to 1-305-946-0201, or, you can scan them
and send them to security@absolutepoker.com

You also need to include a brief note that states that you would like your
account certified.

This is a must for w/d's of $3,000 +, so you might as well get it out of the
way now."

Does this mean that in order for me to not have to go through the process of
verifying my identiy i can only cash out blocks of $2,999? how long of a
duration do i have to wait until i am allowed to cash out another block of
$2,999 in order to avoid having to verify my identity? a day, a week, a
month? in case youre wondering, the only reason why i dont want to go
through the process of verifying my identity is that i dont have immediate
access to a fax/scanner and would like to avoid this trouble if possible.

thanks

does this mean i can cash out $2,999 several times at a time? if i cashed out 4 blocks of $2,999 within a 15 minute time span you would not need my verification? please dont just reply stating that you would need verification in this instance if that is the case. i would like to know exactly what duration i need to wait in order to cash more blocks of $2,999.

thanks

Dear Michael,

Thank your for your email.

Please note that such requirement applies only for withdrawal which total amount exceeds $3,000.00. If you request multiple withdrawals on one day we will need you to send the documents. Please note that sending this papers is a one time deal and that you do not have to send them each time that you request a cash out; we just need to verify that you are that person; also note that our User Agreement states that:

To facilitate these security checks, you agree to provide such indentification or other information or documentation as the Company, in its unfettered discretion, deems necessary. "Don't you feel safer knowing that this crack "security" team is protecting your money? "

Most all internet poker is meeting this same standard. Anyone with a 4+ figure balance should lie awake nights. These jokers can't be trusted. Isn't that clear by now?

the last e-mail from them seems to imply that it's $2999 max per day for not sending them documents.

but it still isn't clear and they aren't very good at answering the actual question.

I went through the same certification BS with them in November.

They were very slow and requested the same documents twice as well.

Phone them, thats what I did, several times and it will get sorted out.

End result, I withdrew all my $s and havent played there in the 2 months since.

I have cashed out from AP numerous ( > 20 ) times for thousands and never had any issue whatsoever. I find it interesting that its always the guys who are jerks to the support staff that have the problems. Don't you?

[/ QUOTE ]
Are you suggesting that Absolute Poker support created this problem on purpose?

What's so wrong about this service?

[/ QUOTE ]
What's wrong is that this isn't an isolated incident.

Late last year I had to fax my info five times before Absolute security finally "got it". The problem was finally resolved when I made a follow-up call after my fifth fax and was told they hadn't received it. Then a non-security CS person apparently walked over to security and found the missing fax for them.

There have been other posts in 2+2 lately describing similar problems sending documents to AP. They have a chronic problem here.

I've spent way too much of my life communicating with AP support. They have a lot of nice people there who really mean well. But they are badly trained, have inadequate procedures, and do a very poor job of bringing problems to closure. If they can fix your problem immediately you are usually golden. If any kind of followup effort is required then you are screwed.

I quit playing AP some time ago due to some technical issues that went completely ignored for 10 days. I couldn't even cash out. I got no response from them. Not even a 'we got your email and we're working on it'. Nothing.

I eventually was able to get the assistant poker room manager on the phone and gave him an earful. His response was basically "Sorry, I don't have a clue why your 6 emails were unanswered. I have them all."

I will never play there again, and will continue to advise other against it.
