Juk, I was just about to say the hash funciton is a great idea, BUT PartyPoker could just easily run that 1-way hash function on all their games/players, and match them up that way. This assumes that PP would know what the hash was, which is reasonable.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I forgot the hash would have to be public, so the 1-way function used would be an obvious target for them.

[ QUOTE ]
That was almost perfect though! And heck, it may be good enough (i.e., safe enough) for people who just have $100-200 in their account.

[/ QUOTE ]
It's quite an interesting problem and I gonna keep thinking about it, but I think it comes down to the fact that an impostor in the sharing 'cell' will always be problematic. Perhaps if I think about exactly what data/keys need to be public to still avoid dupes and minimize data transfers (assuming a central trusted controller possibly?) then it may be possible.

I wondering if any of the P2P software has researched stuff like this before?

Well, for people to receive access to the databases they would first have to contribute hand histories. It isnt 'free'..so to speak.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well that's OK then. It's going to be far too much trouble for PP to submit some hand histories in order to catch people violating the T+C.[/sarcasm]

Face it, sharing hand histories is a bad idea because:-

(a) It is wrong.
(b) It is far too easy to get caught.

Hi,

The site is now up and running. I've got 750k hands for PP and PS with more on the way. I will also have 500k hands for UB by the end of the weekend.

Anybody sharing histories could have their accounts frozen and monies confiscated.

[/ QUOTE ]
More likely that player won't be able to get HHs anymore.

Hey...just wanted to give an update on how the site's doing.

People have contributed over 2.3 MILLION hands to me thus far. With over 1 MILLION of those hands from Party, and ~550k from UB and PS. I've added Prima/Ladbrokes, Pacific and the Cryptologic network to the site recently too.

If you're interested in downloading the hand histories available on the site, all i ask is that you contribute some of your hands...whether they be mined or your personal hands, it doesnt matter.

Just PM me if you want to contribute to the site.

The more people involved in this the better!
