Eh, not much you can do there. You minraise he probably calls and you end up spewing the rest of your chips at some point.

And all: remember I took back the minraise idea when I saw how thin the stacks were. If each is on 2k I still like it, and if villain repushes, I'm getting away from the hand.

OK, I would raise it to 400 pf.

I do this all the time in the bb when it folds to the sb and he limps. It seems as though the sb will fold at least 50% of the time, thus making this play +EV.

that makes it more +ev than folding, not than checking.

Why are you offering someone 3:1 to call when you have small, crappy hands. You're inviting them to play a raised pot with you.

You're not offering 3:1. Villain must call 300 into a 500 pot. Plus, he is OOP, making it less inviting for him.

By making it 400 to go, you are risking 300 to win 200. Much of this play depends on the villain. Is the villain someone who doesn't like to fold the sb in this spot?

Anyways, if the move works at least 50% of the time, it has to be a good play. So often, you are getting the villain to lay down of ton of better hands than you. Why would this be so bad?

Agreed, I complete from the SB all the time with stuff like J8s. I almost always lead the flop. If I get resistance pre or post flop, I fold like a little girl. But I feel like it's a cheaper way to find out if BB has a good hand than making it 3BB and kicking in his "must... defend... BB... at all costs..." instinct. Also I do the same thing with a monster.
