Re: J6c 3/6 LHE game OTB
[ QUOTE ]
Suited facecard on the button with no raises in front = limp away every time. In fact, you can limp here with a lot worse and feel good about it. Any time you get to see a flop cheaply from the button with suited or connected cards go ahead and spin the wheel. [/ QUOTE ] I whole heartly agree. I love the button and suited face cards. I don't want to kick a dead horse any more but I NEED to play better post flop if I am going to see a flop in the first place and rule one is to see the flop less often. There has to be something intrinsically wrong with my game if I am constantly losing. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] On the flop I allways raise because I have a massive equity edge with 6 people in the pot. [/ QUOTE ] FYP, euro [/ QUOTE ] just call and let everyone in with their silly hands. That's better than getting HU with trips. Your equity edge can only be realized when everyone puts their dollars in. Like, you can't say "well it's a 6 way pot and I will win more than 1/6th of the time, so GOGOGOO, because when it ends up 3 ways in this spot instead of 5 ways, you just cost yourself a bunch of money. [/ QUOTE ] Did I miss something? I thought like four people had already called a flop bet when the action came to hero. [/ QUOTE ] wrong. MP bet, not sb. everyone called AFTER hero called. not before. |

So then there's just the one bet facing hero, right? Well, then it's a call. Of course, that was not at all the point of fixing euro's post, but hey, I don't want to nitpick. It's not like I was pointing out a concept or anything.

Re: J6c 3/6 LHE game OTB
[ QUOTE ]
I am BB call a raise since there are 6 players to the flop and I have 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - flop is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - turn is K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] river is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and I lose to K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Next hand in the SB I complete 1 chip with 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Flop is 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Turn is a 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and I lose to 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [/ QUOTE ] This one time, I flopped the nut full house against a guy that flopped quads. I played it like my hand was the nuts & I lost a good bit of money on that hand. A couple hands later, I flopped trips with top kicker. I played it like my hand was the nuts & won a ton of money. Limit hold'em is primarily a game of percentages; reads factor in of course, but they are not nearly as crucial as they are in no limit play. You just need to accept that sometimes, you are destined to lose a lot of money in a hand over hand situation like these. It's supposed to work that way. The way you make up for those rare losses is by not playing scared and trying as hard as possible to create huge pots when you have a big hand. The surest way to playing losing poker is to win a bunch of small pots while losing a bunch of big ones. Incidentally, if you really aren't that comfortable with your postflop play then there is absolutely nothing wrong with tightening up your preflop play, even with this blind structure. You are sacrificing some equity by doing so, but will likewise be lowering your variance and limiting the number of scenarios you're likely to see postflop. The fewer postflop possibilities there are, the more quickly you'll learn to play them correctly. |

Re: J6c 3/6 LHE game OTB
Thanks, very good advice on all points. Yes, you are destined to lose some hands and I expect that. So far, I have been losing many more than winning. Changing or playing scared is not the way to win. I have to agree.
I need to play better post flop and by folding more hands preflop I do lose some potential profit. But, until I master the post flop play I think I will continue to tighten up some. After all the description of a player that can be easily beat is one that plays too many hands and goes too far with them. I think that I overvalue my hands post flop - after all 6-3 on a 6-6-4 flop is vulnerable. |
