"We pay you to play poker!!!"

Why in the name of sweet little baby Jesus isn't this their tag line? I honestly cannot work it out. "Rakeback" means absolutely nothing to the man on the street.

I think they want people excited about the amount of rake-back they receive back into their accounts each week.

It has to be something like that. In that case the "we pay you to play poker" line would make sense.

The current system only makes sense to the tight nit grinders who live off their share of the redistributed rake from other peoples pots.

I would really be interested in a coherent explanation from Mr GM as to why rakeback is superior to rake free as a business model for their site.

Does WSEX really need the population of grinder HUDbots to keep the site running? If that is the case, what is the point? That can't be very enjoyable to any sportsbook players who happen in.

The rest of you drones just hush. I have already heard your lame and baseless reasons as to why you want to share in other peoples pots.

I haven't weighed in on this before and don't play at WSEX so take this for what it's worth.

I think the rakeBACK option does more to attract fish than rakeFREE. Casual players don't understand or care about rake so the concept of rakefree is not going to mean much to them. However getting a nice little bonus in their accounts every week or so seems more tangible and more of a reason to continue to play.

I would imagine this is why WSEX would elect to do this. You may feel the benefit the grinders get out of sharing rake is negative - and perhaps it is, I don't know - but it is irrelevant to the paramount purpose of the system.

I agree that "we pay you to play poker" is a better tag-line than "100% rakeback" which not everyone understands.

Go to your typical live poker-room and try to explain to half the table how "rake-back" works. They will have no idea.
"Okay, so the hand gets raked $3 and there were 10 players there. So my contribution to that is $0.30. If I get 25% rakeback then that means for that hand I get 25% of 30 cents which is about 8 cents. It doesn't sound like much but at the end of the month it really adds up."
You've already lost them at the part where you are trying to explain that $3 divided by 10 players = 30 cents. Many people just don't get it and/or have never heard of it and/or don't understand it enough to realize that it can be pretty significant.

"100% rakeback" only makes a difference to those who know what rakeback is.
"Play poker for free" doesn't sound like anything to a lot of people. They already think they are playing for free on PokerStars or in their live-room because it's not like there's a monthly-fee or something just to be allowed to play.
"Oh wait...you mean they don't take any rake and that's what the big deal is supposed to be? Who cares. It's only like a buck on a hand, right? That doesn't make any difference at all. Who cares?"

But "we pay you to play poker" is easily more attractive and more understandable by just about anyone.

"Holy crap!! I end up getting paid like $10/hr just to play 2/4. That's a nice little extra on top of what I already plan on winning!!"

I think they want people excited about the amount of rake-back they receive back into their accounts each week.

Originally when this was discussed I thought it was mentioned that there is some skin on whatever network they are on which takes the rake. So for whatever few players that skin had on the tables it was necessary to keep the full rake structure. I have no idea if that was correct or not though nor do I know if it still applies.

They shared skin with www.truemoneygames.com before.
They moved to their own platform a few months ago, so I dont know there are any other skins anymore.

Thanks,

I wrote it myself. Going for function over form here and wanted to just get it out. I realize it's not my best work but it gets the message out.

Looking forward to some old customers coming back and sticking around after they see the improvements.

I think the people in this thread are onto something with the "we pay you to play poker" tagline. It might actually go a long way toward easily attracting new players to the site (this, and adding more deposit options, which I know you're working on).

Also, count me among the people who are happy about the attempts you've been making to improve the site. If you need someone to proofread your future press releases or notifications for content/structure, get in touch with me. I'm good at that stuff.

How are US customers making withdrawals on this site?

[/ QUOTE ]

I get checks sent by regular mail. The last one took 8 days, once of which was the Columbus Day holiday, so really it took just 5 business days.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is amazingly quick. I do checks as well, but I haven't had one sent by regular mail for a while. Right after Neteller shut down, they were taking a long time. My most recent withdrawal was made via FedEx ($30 fee) and only took a couple of days. I have another check coming now by regular mail, and if it takes under 2 weeks somehow I will be thrilled. I did notice they've taken down the warning on the withdrawal page that checks were taking longer than usual, which is a good sign.
