Yes I see one. it is helping me in the short term, but I think its [censored] up my mind for the long term. I cant elaborate more right now because im so dizzy from this nicotine patch on me. She was one of a few people that helped to push/brainwash me into quitting cigarettes.

Edit: My old doctor would have never told me why I shouldnt be smoking and just keep giving me drugs.

I R one. Hated doing therapy and went into another part of the field. Some are great and some aren't. Not all therapists and client are a good match though. Important distinction -

Psychologist and therapist cant give drugs
Psychiatrist can - Better living through chemistry!

Problem with most therapists is they are usually pretty messed up themselves. Thus going to them for advice can be bad since they really aren't equipped for proper guidance.

wtf? professional therapist = certified, trained, licensed psychologist/psychiatrist, this generalization seems way off base.

and OP: yes

Actually it isn't. When you have worked with people in the field you come to see a lot of them should not be giving advice because they are pretty wacky themselves. Probably the reason why they become therapists is so they can try to understand their own psychological issues.

Being able to obtain a license does not mean the person should be giving advice. I'm sure people in this thread can give examples of some horrible therapists they have went to. Also, I am not saying all therapists are not in a position to treat patients, but I will say the majority shouldn't.
