I'd rather not be eaten by a sabre-toothed tiger.
Even if it means I have to live in a 'fiction reality' and have my 'rational adaptive process' destroyed?

If you think we were better off in the "state of nature", a winter or two in Minnesota in a house without central heating or indoor plumbing (or better yet, a teepee) should clarify your thinking. If that doesn't do it bury a couple of your kids who died of something easily curable or preventable by modern medicine.

this sounds like all or nothing fallacy.

So does the thread title? I'm not sure what your point is. Is he asking if we live in the best possible utopian world? The answer is no.

just seems like comparing amish to living in a teepee in alaska is a bit extreme.

Right but isn't that what the OP was asking? What does a "state of nature" entail? Certainly not the Amish. Obviously there is a continuum between here and there, but if all he is asking is "Are there any changes we can make to make the world better?".....ya know?

"state of nature" is a vague term. is building a house exiting a "state of nature"? if so, what about a teepee? if not, what if you add a fireplace and raise chickens? were early agricultural collectives in a "state of nature" or only nomadic or "barbarian" groups? and so on...

I'm sure someone has said it, but if you want to return to a state of nature, you better be prepared to go genocide to the tune of 6 billion or some folk.
