I'd probably fold, with that AF.

I also raise more preflop.

O RLY? More than $14?

And to what amount, exactly, do you suggest 3betting with position, in a blind battle, against a half stack?

[/ QUOTE ]

15 or 16.

[/ QUOTE ]

Good point. If hero had made it 15 pre instead of 14, our flop play would become trivial and automatic here.

[/ QUOTE ]15 or 16 would be too big. In terms of balancing, against shorties you reraise smaller than usual and in position you reraise smaller than usual (although 14 is my usual). In terms of one-shot beating up on short stacks you will never see again, you're better off keeping him in the hand given you have a monster. I'd make it 12 here as a standard.

If he timed down I see 9s sometimes and draws more often than otherwise, often enough that I'd call.

people are putting waaay to much stock in this guy's aggression factor. Look at his pf stats. He'd have to be bluff raising like 50% of flops to get it over 1.5.

He's shoving AK for preflop like 95% of the time. He's got 9's, random pocket pairs, draws and completely, mind-bogglingly random crap so often that this call is not really very close at all. Also, it's bvb and I bet even he knows that.

Here's a little theorem that has served me well wrt the shortstack donkey thought process:

"They always put you on AK unless they can't beat AK."

Of course he's going to have you beat sometimes but I guarantee you his range is wide enough to make that call very profitable.

*grunch*

His range should be ahead of you. I'm not calling that raise. AK, KQ, KJ are all quite likely given his stats. But It wouldn't be a complete suprise to see something like JJ/TT there either.
