lol @ diebitter

the problem with this forum (other than the fact that the site doesn't want it, the mods don't want it and it's a terrible idea) is that users will actually post WORSE in BBV if it becomes cool, because they will want to have their post moved to the dump.

[/ QUOTE ]

Only if you can't just start them there, which isn't what I said. Don't project the comments of others onto me.

[ QUOTE ]

in fact if other mods started moving threads to the dump this could cause basically all of their forums to go to [censored] as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

Huh?

jesus christ no.

stuff that is culled from bb4l is stuff that doesn't belong on the site at all. if it does belong on the site at all, it's OK to post in bb4l.

honestly that's about the entirety of the rules that i think should exist in bb4l, it's just that people insist on having enumerated constantly the list of things that do and don't belong on the site at all.

db,

Haven't you noticed by now that almost all of your suggestions re: forums other than The Lounge meet with intense and vitriolic resistance from the vast majority of your fellow mods? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that has to mean one of two things is true:

A) We're all a bunch of stupid, pig-headed nits who are terrified of change and harbor some irrational hatred for you, or

B) You have a fundamental lack of understanding of what is "good" for the forums and fail to see this.

Whichever one of those is true, wouldn't it make sense for you to just quit wasting your time with stuff like this? Stick to the lounge, you do a good job there (seriously); you'd probably be happier that way.

I think the majority of mods have this problem, they see whats good for the forums from their POV only, not from the POV of the 392,000 absolute unique visitors the site draws monthly.

db,

"more like a refuge-come-soup kitchen for lost souls..."

Serious question here. Isn't this what Mat wants the Lounge to be? A place for people who feel unwelcome/uncomfortable/intimated in other 2+2 forums?

Yes, I guess that's one way of looking at it.

And indeed, we did sort of talk about moving some threads from oot to the Lounge if they suit, but not sure if any of that's going on.

If it is, the oot are selecting very well, because they are good choices.

Just dump the trash in BBV4L. I'll lock the threads and ban users as necessary.
