Did you watch the game? They're not better than GA just because they won. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe we were watching different games. |

Well, I'm trying to weight the on-field results a little bit compared to how good I feel the teams actually are. If I were doing completely objective rankings on value, Va. Tech would make the "close" group and maybe even beat out Missouri for #25, but not much higher than that. I just wasn't sold on them at all, even before the season.
Their whole offense is "let Brandon Ore gain 3 yards and wait for the defense/special teams to make a big play" and when they run into a team with a decent D-line, they can't even get that. Maybe if Tyrod Taylor takes over at QB full-time, they can develop a passing game, but right now, they look like a 7 or 8 win team. |

Cal 6? Louisville 7? They didn't really blow out MTSU/Colorado State.
Then again, CSU did get a bunch of garbage stuff. |

[ QUOTE ] They're not better than Georgia. [/ QUOTE ] They just beat Georgia @ Georgia, how can you say this? [/ QUOTE ] There are lots of instances where a team beat another team and weren't ranked ahead of them, but considering this was the second game of the year and it was on the road, I'd have to rank SC ahead of Georgia. |

[/ QUOTE ] Cal did let it get away with the onside kick late, but were firmly ahead for most the fourth Anyway, huge game v Tenn and they were prime for a letdown playing at an underrespected team's stadium I actually wanted to drop L'ville lower, but just couldn't find teams to put ahead of them. L'ville's defense is just downright awful, but it has the offense to outscore nearly everyone. Their offense is the best I've seen all year. |

because they're better than roughly 10 teams on that list many teams get rolled down in Baton Rouge when things go bad though they didn't look good v ECU on offense, the Hokie defense is strong and will be there all season. Defense is what propelled a pretty ordinary Florida offense to a title last year. V Tech isn't far from that. [/ QUOTE ] First, I am a pretty big LSU fan so I like the compliment above. Even still you have to have a better showing than that, they looked like they didn't even belong on the same field--b/c they didn't. They show no signs of life on offense whatsoever and if an o-line has any size they are going to be in trouble. Nearly 300 yards given up on the ground to LSU is bad but you will say it is arguably the best team in the country in Baton Rouge...what about the 150 they gave up against ECU the week before? I too wasn't sold on VT before the season and had discussed w/ friends that I thought their ranking was a little high. That ECU game was atrocious. The LSU game was more of the same and a team should be judged on how they have played and they haven't shown 5 minutes of life yet. A team that is 0-2 and hasn't played good football yet shouldn't be in the top 25. Maybe somewhere down the road they are a top 25 team but this team right now isn't imo. |

I understand your points
I just have trouble thinking of 25 teams that are better. |
