Re: 200 NL: I either love or hate how I played QQ here ...
[ QUOTE ]
You win 100% of the time your opponent folds and you have an excellent redraw for the times he calls and he is ahead. not to mention the times he calls and he's almost drawing dead. [/ QUOTE ] I belive this is an excellent point to my shove suggestion. Fold equity. |

Re: 200 NL: I either love or hate how I played QQ here ...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Bet the flop, shove if reraised. As played, either raise the turn to about $100 or just Shove the turn after the bet. If not there then definitely shove after the reraise. Just calling is terrible. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Calling is certainly no worse than pushing. I would say that it is better. People here often seem to think that calling is always wrong because they have been told that you must always raise/fold. Sometimes (like here) calling is the most aggressive option. |

Re: 200 NL: I either love or hate how I played QQ here ...
[ QUOTE ]
No better hands are ever folding if I bet, and I can't see many *likely* worse hands that are calling if I bet. Just because I played it passively doesn't mean I'm playing it scared. [/ QUOTE ] This isn't true. If you or your opponent is never folding the best hand, you are both playing terribly. Aggression has two ways to win. They fold the best hand or you get the money in there when you have the best hand. I would have a tough time calling all in with AA or KK on this board. |

You win 100% of the time your opponent folds [/ QUOTE ] Agreed, but this isn't necessarily the way to maximize my expectation. [ QUOTE ] and you have an excellent redraw for the times he calls and he is ahead. [/ QUOTE ] Well, I think I'm rarely getting called (more likely than not all the money is going in) if I'm behind, in which case I'm about a 2 to 1 dog. [ QUOTE ] not to mention the times he calls and he's almost drawing dead. [/ QUOTE ] Which hands are calling a bet on the flop that are almost drawing dead? |

Some guy called with pocket 22 on a board of kkqq5 a day or two ago. It happens.

Re: 200 NL: I either love or hate how I played QQ here ...
[ QUOTE ]
If you or your opponent is never folding the best hand, you are both playing terribly. [/ QUOTE ] I'm saying on THIS board, with $90 in the pot preflop and $170 effective behind, a hand better than QQ is NEVER folding to a bet. [ QUOTE ] Aggression has two ways to win. They fold the best hand or you get the money in there when you have the best hand. [/ QUOTE ] Sure, but if they're only folding worse hands that are way behind (that I want to call) and calling with better hands, aggression is not necessarily the best way to play the hand. There's definitely truth to the above statement, but like all things in poker it depends on the situation. [ QUOTE ] I would have a tough time calling all in with AA or KK on this board. [/ QUOTE ] If you're smooth-calling a 3-bet with KK+ preflop here and NOT getting it in on this flop, that may be a leak. |

Please lock this thread before someone who is trying to learn to play poker reads it and gets confused.
I guess the key to playing great poker is allowing your opponent to make you decide whether to call all in or not instead of the other way around. |
