Firing coaches in mid season doesn't sound like a great idea to me.

All it does is give a chance for an interim coach to make an impression and possibly get the job. Do you really want an assistant taking over and going 8-2 or 7-3 the rest of the way and then have him possibly get the job when you would have the pick of the best coaches in the offseason?
