who is this guy?

[/ QUOTE ]

Remember a few years ago when the media thought we cared about rich people trying to fly a hot air balloon around the world?

He was that guy.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought that was richard branson.

He was involved too. For a few years it was the retarded news story that just wouldn't go away. The fact that the media could make such a big deal out of balloon trip 30 years after the moon landing still baffles me.

Attention seeking > thrill seeking to Fossett. Probably planned.

i hope he is okay . very few great adventures around these days that do exceptional feats. he is one.
his plane a citabria which is airbatic spelled backward and is a good plane and can land on some rough ground. so he can survive a forced landing hopefully. i have flown that plane and know it well.

Yeah, i'm sure you'll still be complaining when the day comes that you can fly to europe for next to nothing in a hot air balloon!

4 days later and still no sign of him or his plane.

"MINDEN, Nev. - In their quest to find missing aviator Steve Fossett, searchers have come across uncharted plane wrecks six times. But none of the wrecks shed light on what may have happened to the multimillionaire."

"Nevada has a registry of known crash sites but estimated that some 150 wrecks of small aircraft over the past 50 years are uncharted."

How weird is it that there are a bunch of random plane crashes that they are coming across for the first time?

So even if he got the plane down safely, which seems unlikely since he made no attempt to contact anyone, there's no chance he could have survived this long without food or water.

He is singing with Pavarotti in Heaven!!!
