WTF? Bruce Bowen?

[/ QUOTE ]

I actually like the Bowen choice. I wrote in a thread (started by Clarkmeister I think) that I wanted Bowen on the final roster.

I don't mind Iverson, but if I'm building the best possible team of NBA players to try and make up for the debacle that went down at the last Olympics, he's not getting near it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm with you. Plus, Iverson has made his feelings for practice well known, why would anyone expect him to give a full effort for 3 years to this Olympic team?

"Iverson has made his feelings for practice well known, why would anyone expect him to give a full effort for 3 years to this Olympic team?"

Because unlike any other players he's expressed that being on this team means a great deal to him.

I think his "pratice" thing is way overblown.

I like the Bowen selection. Defense = goot.

iverson should get a tryout. he played hard in the last olympics and is one of the best players in the league. whether or not the coaches take him is irrelevant. judging from his past contributions and accomplishments and his current status in the league (30+, 7+) leaving him home is rediculous.

Bowen over say, Tayshaun Prince, who is better at everything else? I like the concept but not the execution. Plus Bowen will be getting up there in years by 2008.

Tayshaun Prince declined an invitiation.

Iverson would do anything the coaches asked of him to play on this team.

I like Luke Ridnour a lot, but I don't think he belongs on this team.

Bowen will be 37 when the 2008 Olympics start. Uhm - seriously, WTF?

Jamison?

BTW Dids, on a totally unrelated note, I wanted to tell you Vlad has been playing great! Obviously, we know he can stroke it, but he's been playing above-average D, handles the ball well, getting tough rebounds, and runs the floor. So far I've been impressed. Contract years rule.

This happens, in spurts.

Wilcox jumps good and has had some nice follow up dunks on plays where the original shooter got fouled and nobody was defending him!

Too bad Nash isn't American. He'd be perfect for Olympic ball.

[/ QUOTE ]

He single-handedly led the Canada national team (a bunch of no-names) to a huge run in the 2000 Olympics

he was also MVP in the qualifying tourney for the 2004 Olympics (where they lost and didn't qualify)
