I can maybe understand only tipping 3% to the staff (although i certainly would've tipped at least 50k because I am one of the vegas scumbags you all seem to be hating on), but i find it kind of offensive that he bothered to tip the guards $1..... thats ridiculous. Either tip them $20 ($100 would be better), or you do not tip them at all. (a better option than $1).

I am sorry everyone is offended by Americans tipping, I Just got back from Macau and each dealer looked at me like I was on crack when I tried to tip, but very appreciative of it once they realized what I was trying to do.

Since when is giving someone extra $$$ for a job you appreciate a bad thing?

[/ QUOTE ]

it's not a bad thing. the bad thing is chastising people for NOT giving someone extra $$.

You also dont have to tip at hotel restaurants and other places where they add 15 % "for your convenience" but people do anyway...If a person does a good job would it really kill you to throw a few bucks more?

I mean cmon...I know that not tipping makes a statement against the rake or whatever but you cash for $6753834760948394534 would it really hurt u that much to throw the dealers some more money, consdeirng the abuse they put up with? Yeah you dont HAVE to and no one should tell you you should but....gee whiz you make a million dollars playing poker for gods sake and these dealers have had to sit there breathing in god knows what diseases and getting yelled at for things that arent their fault in 317263 different languages.

bah...whatever dont listen to me i am obv a huge softee.

It's a bad thing when you raise expectations of everyone doing that job, especially when those doing that job start treating tips as a bribe to do their job well.

ugh this argument is just tired and devoid of all logic. you could easily use the same logic to say "come on, you made a million dollars playing poker. now you go eat at mcdonalds. would it KILL ya to give the guy who had your big mac ready in 2 minutes an extra $10?

Assuming that 3% is being taken out for the dealers, it seems justifiable not to tip.

Now that you bring up the mcdonalds example, I have changed my mind. That example has so little do to with what I said and bears so little relationship to anything of this universe that it must be the analogy which is destined to change my mind...In light of the McDonalds example, and ONLY because of the mcdonalds example, I have changed my mind. Do not tip the dealers...otherwise you will be forced to tip 10$ at Mcdonalds using the same logic, and we simply cannot allow this.

Just because he won money doesn't mean he's required to throw it left and right to everyone he comes into contact with. It's those people's jobs. If he had that attitude he eventually wouldn't have much left now would he?

In my opinion the tipping thing goes a little too far. I mean tipping guys in bathrooms for handing you a towel in Vegas? Come on. I'll get the towel myself thank you very much. The people that play into that obviously get a rise out of "the treatment" and I don't begrudge them for it. I think it's shallow, but I don't begrudge them. If they want to blow their money like that, that's their prerogative but I'd rather give it to charity instead.

As someone said earlier, 3% was already taken out, and it's Dan. Conservative as ever.

I HATE Bathroom attendants. It drives me crazy. Like, I'm in there to do my business, wash and dry my hands, and get out. I don't want to be expected to tip. Hell, I don't even want to have to say thank you, bathrooms are for pooping, not for talking. They just throw a wrench into the whole thing.

The security thing I think was ridiculous. The dealers are another matter, as Casino's factor in the fact that they will be tipped into their wage.

Security officers (and I know this because I unfortunately am in this line of work) are paid a wage that is set without the expectation of gratuity of any kind. I do mostly uniform work, with some plain-clothed, and I can tell you, in my three year career, I've been tipped probably twice, and both tips added together weren't enough to buy a medium 3 topping pizza from Pizza Hut.

In England it seems the in-thing for clubs to have Jamaican guys in the toilets singing crappy little rhymes they've made up like "clean your finger for the minger" and putting soap on your hands and [censored]. Annoys the [censored] out of me.
