you are correct...but external factors do play a role (a healthy diet would definitely improve the overall appearance of the body, including skin)

wierd you say that, both my parents have perfect skin and my brother and I both sufferred from acne at one point...

It's quite possible that it did skip a generation. I suffered from mild acne as a teenager, but it cleared up when I started college. Both my parents had mild acne as did my siblings and theirs cleared up after their teens as well.

Yes there is no doubt that it is important to be healthy and not eat too much junk food and wash your face, etc. but oily skin is not the cause of acne.

A couple of years ago I started the proactiv system (not just the lotion) and my face cleared up almost overnight. My friend had the same thing happen as well.

Get the whole system, with the mask stuff. That stuff is the shizit. I know it's expensive, but it really works and they'll send it automatically to you.

I used to constantly get blemishes around my upper lip & chin. Tried lots of things. Started taking a Vitamin A & D complex once a day (in the grocery store, no prescription) - completely gone.

If I go a week or so without taking the vitamins, I start to break out again.

drinking a lot of water really helps...1-1.5 gallons a day + Aveeno Face Wash and some creams from the dermatologist have worked for me

there are several causes for acne. each can be cured with
-acutane
- proactiv bs
- water
- diets
- stress relief
- sports
- masturbating more often
- colon cleansing

if u try each of these and none works, i ll give u 1000 dollars.
