Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] who really 5-bets this river with TT anyways? [/ QUOTE ] a guy who KNOWS that hero cannot have the nuts or 2nd nuts given the preflop line hero took. [/ QUOTE ] um, given he put multiple bets on the flop and the turn and then FOUR on the river, i think AA should be the majority of his range. |

Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
I think just a call is the right move. At passive Bay101 20-40, 5 bets means the nuts.

Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
Ignoring preflop action, Hank's hand screams 67...but I just don't see many TAGs 4 betting 67s after a 3 bet...maybe I need to open up my game to include that. Then again, I have no reads on said 'Hank' character. The people in the CAZ 20 game who would do this preflop would also be the people that can't stop raising a set, so those two things offset each other. The truly TAG players won't have 67 preflop and also won't go that many bets without the nuts...villains hand in my mind in this order is:
TT > 67 > AA > 88 (Yes I am putting a fouled deck hand in there, and it barely beats out the 67 option). |

Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
you think he has 23 or 67 for a straight and played like that preflop? He 4 bet preflop! He checkraised the flop. I mean COME ON. He has an underset and he thinks you never ever have aces because you didn't 5 bet it preflop. Take it upstairs baby.

Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
[ QUOTE ]
Would he really put you on an overplay with AT and value bet his TT or 88? I mean, if you had AT would you normally 4-bet the river? I doubt it because you're worried about a set. [/ QUOTE ] I think he has TT and is putting us on 88. That's a hell of a lot more likely than him 4 betting 67 preflop and CRing flop with it. |

Yeah the flop c/r after 4-betting preflop screams set. I'd 6-bet.

Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
I would not 3-bet 88 if I were Hank. So even if we assume he is even more unthinking than me (rare), when he 3-bets his range is still just a tad worse than {TT,7s6s}. That makes 4-betting a good idea and 6-betting really stupid.

Re: 20/40 at Bay 101 against a TAG
The flop c/r does point to a set its true, it is the only reason I don't think the 6-bet on river is completely crazy. I still wouldn't do it, because we lose 2 bets if he has 76 and only gain one bet most likely if he has TT or 88, and I still believe 76 is more likely. Unless you can fold to a 7-bet which I'm just not doing.
I just can't imagine him not putting us on AA when we four bet the river, so his five bet is pretty indicative of 76. |

I made it six bets and folded to his seven bet. No not really, I don't play that good.
I tanked for a minute and decided since he had bet and raised at every opportunity on the big streets where he had put in 7 bets, hand reading aside, I figured he had the nuts and called. He showed 67 of spades. He then took a ration of sh*t from the table for his play. He told me later he thought I might be playing back at him light given the way the table was playing so he 4 bet pre, got a great flop and played it fast. |
