Default Re: WSOP on ESPN thread (8/14) (5k PLH, 2k 7CS, 5k Headsup NL)

These are prelim events. For the most part ESPN has been showing FTs with "known stars", and the 5kPLH table was by far one of the most stacked "known stars" tables they had under contract to show on TV. In order to crack the TV nut and get featured on one of these FTs you'd need a "star" or two, AND to make it to the Final 3 or HU. In this particular instance a 6th place finish don't mean [censored].

Yes, ESPN should be trying to make new "poker stars", but the best way to do that is by showing people winning bracelets, or at the very least being very TV-friendly, or having an interesting story and cracking the Final 3/HU when it comes to the prelim events.

Anyway, the Main Event is the real WSOP/ESPN star-maker.

More people will remember the struggling actress (who's already in the commercials) than Steve Billarakis after this year's run of WSOP shows are over.

Just the way it goes.
