Yeah I've seen pretty tight players do stupid moves, but really if this isn't ever a time to fold a set then I don't know when is. This guy is running just under 3 bb/100 over 5400 hands. He's so tight I cannot put a,3 or a,7 in his range...and IMO he's definately not 4-betting a flush draw. I seriously used to never ever fold sets as I always used to think if I'm not paying off a higher set on the flop like this then I'm playing the hand wrong, but this seemed glaringly obvious to me that I was beat.

It seems really silly to put in a quarter of our stack and then fold a set on a board where only 2 hands are ahead of us.

Has ANYBODY even considered that even TIGHT players do stupid things at this level sometimes? Has anybody considered that this really could be a misclick?

[/ QUOTE ]

pokerboy, I don't mean to make fun, but cmon. Do you seriously think a decent player should spend even a microsecond of time factoring in the potential for a misclick in his decision-making?

and what would you actually 'click' to put in $40 here?

What does it matter what I would do? It's pretty obvious that the villian does not play poker like me, or anyone else here for that matter.

As far as the poster that said, "if this is not a spot to fold a set, I don't know what is". How about a board that offers more hands that are ahead of us? And WHY are we looking for spots to fold sets anyways? Creating big pots with powerful hands and then folding is atrocious.

I don't think it's too absurd to consider this guy might have limped in with the powerful AK and now he thinks he's trapping us.

The guy is 12/3 and limped. A 12% range includes 66+, A9o+, A7s+, KQo and KTs+. With that board, he can have any number of hands that you've still got beat. AJ, AQ and AK(suited or not) are all possibilities; KQs (flush draw) is possible; sets are a concern too.

With 5400 hands on villain, pop open PT and check his positional stats. See if he is good enough to be adjusting his play range from EP as compared to LP.

IMO, A7 or A3 are much more likely here. On the other hand, when you re not folding at this point, you re most definetely playing for stacks, except third flush card comes on turn that slows him down...

[/ QUOTE ]

A7 and A3 are not in the top 12% of hands

I think only one hand ahead of us. This guy raises AK and TT+ from any position. .45% for each TT+ and AK = ~3%

I love your assumption that he plays 12% from every position.

I love that you read the rest of the post before commenting. Note the "check positional stats" portion of the post.
