Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?

yea, the hate for coz is really weird for me to understand, he seems like he's a very good at what he does (of course, that gm schuerholz deserves a lot of credit), but he gets the job done every year...weird [/ QUOTE ] 15 straight division titles and only 1 world championship might have a lot to do with it |

I have hated LaRussa for nearly a decade now and would gladly take any warm body in place of him.

Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
Bobby Cox has been losing it for sometime now. Fortunately the Braves have had great teams over the year to make him look like one of the best of all time.

[/ QUOTE ] It goes beyond just the championship. He makes some mistakes, but he's generally pretty good at his job, he does a great job at handling the media and sticking up for his guys, and beyond that he's just a very likable guy. He rules. |

Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
Bucking the trend of most of Philadelphia, I like Charlie Manuel a lot. It depends on the mix of players you have on a team though. I watch teams like the Mets and the Angels play...Willie and Scoscia are always completely into the game, giving signs, calling pitches from the dugout. When the Phillies had Larry Bowa doing that kind of stuff, the nucleus of the team mutinied on him, and the team went up in flames.
If the Phillies had 25 guys like Chase Utley and Aaron Rowand on the team, I'm sure they (And I) would prefer a more intense manager. As it is, I think the guys like Utley and Rowand motivate themselves, while Charlie stays out of the way for the guys who don't want to be bothered as much (Rollins, Howard, Burrell, Myers, Hamels). So to sum up this unnecessarily long post...It depends |

Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
I think the Astros fans are split. Half love him because he took them to the WS but the other half knows he's a retard and doesn't understand baseball basics.
I'm personally in the half that would like to see a replacement. |

Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
Cox is a terrible in game manager. He strong point is keep a team centered during the long 162 game season. No one is better at that. He also is a good evaluater of talent.
He also blows it during the playoffs (Charlie Leibrandt anyone?) |
