Re: Perhaps odd relationship question
The last 3 don't seem so obnoxious, but the first girl's profile is unbelievable. It basically says "I'm looking for a man to take care of me and my 4 kids".
But, at least there's not too many criteria to meet: [ QUOTE ] Must not have messaged users looking for intimate encounters or sex. Must not be looking for Hang Out Must not be looking for Talk/E-mail Must not be looking for Other Relationship Must not be looking for Friendship Must not be looking for Intimate Encounter Must not be looking for Activity Partner Must not do drugs Must not be married [/ QUOTE ] These chicks are unbelievable. But this is the best: [ QUOTE ] He MUST NOT be looking for a botty call or a one night thing cuz he will not get it from me [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, no "botty" calls or one night stands b/c this chick doesn't put out obv. LOL @ white trash skanks looking for men to take care of their kids. |

I like the "I want, I need, you must, you must not" tone in these types of profile. Seems to me that with 4 kids, one should tone down a bit about one wanting to be spoiled. [/ QUOTE ] What's really bizarre is when you hear this IRL. |

[ QUOTE ] I like the "I want, I need, you must, you must not" tone in these types of profile. [/ QUOTE ] It seems like at least 75% of these profiles fit this exactly. I'm not really that picky about looks but there's like one in ten girls in my age group on there that I would even consider dating. Its just bizarre to me. I wonder if women realize there's just as much single women as men. [/ QUOTE ] Don't know your age range, but there's definitely a good length of time when lots of women don't realize this, nor how rapidly what they have to offer is diminishing and how little it's leaving them with. |

Re: Perhaps odd relationship question
[ QUOTE ]
singles ads (particularly in newspapers and such) are the most depressing reads and its not even close. these people are completely unspecial, unattractive, and lacking any future whatsoever with few exceptions. but they aren't bad people, just people with nothing going for them. do they deserve to be happy and find someone for them? probably, but unless their standards have been sufficiently beaten down by their inability to ever achieve any material success in life then they are most likely destined to a life of intermittent loneliness interrupted only by short, empty, and likely mutually-parasitic relationships with similarly beaten down souls. at least thats my take on it after reading a fair amount of singles ads by 'overweight single mothers who are just looking for a good guy to share her life with' and my experiences with similar people in real life situations (worked a couple months in a law firm that did a lot of divorces and custody stuff, which is probably why i am so jaded) [/ QUOTE ] Working in law firms is a pretty easy way to get brought down. Very confrontational, hierarchical mindset, generally with an extremely healthy helping of snobbery, obliviousness, and lack of accountability for bad behavior. As to your second paragraph, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it applied to close to a majority of the population. You can be a pretty mediocre person with a whole lot of faults and still have a good life with a partner, but you have to lose a ton of illusions and take a big, big step back from a lot of the materialism of the culture at large. |

From the "others" link... [ QUOTE ] working in an rewarding [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] feild. I also, run an adult family fostor [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] in which gives me a good perspective on life [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm not looking for someone to compleate me but to compliment me [/ QUOTE ] I'll compliment her when she works on her spelling. Seems if you're trying to find a daddy for your 4 kids and you're going to be picky, you should run your work through a spelling and grammar checker first.... EDIT: The "her" link....she has her marital status as "prefer not to say". Is it just me or does that seem like a major deal with online dating??? [/ QUOTE ] dude, you left out the best one: her use of the word "is'nt". homemade contractions FTW! |
