people still listen to this band?

[/ QUOTE ]

1) They just came out with a new album
2) Their last album was in 2002

So, only someone really hardcore is "still listening" to them after a 5 year hiatus, but some people may be coming back to listening to them. I personally only have their 1st two albums in MP3 and probably give them a listen once or twice a year when I stumble upon it in my collection. It reminds me of high school and all the music I love from the 90's.

they kinda remind me of all the music i hated in the 90s. course i only heard their 1 hit song. and at the time, i thought, people listen to this band?

Silverchair is interesting. In the early '90s when they were 14 years old, they were a crappy grunge band with one hit.

Then they went away and came back with two pretty kick-ass records, and Daniel Johns has turned himself into an electrifying rock star. He's young, handsome, extremely talented, and charismatic as hell. (And the lucky bastard married Natalie Imbruglia).

He did a side project called The Dissociatives that is the best thing he's created, and the recent incarnation of Silverchair is a completely different band -- good ol' rock and roll with an experimental side, and they deserve to have a totally new reputation.

Tyler,

That one song they wrote about Dids was awesome.

I hope this wasn't your 9,000th post. Would hate to see it squandered on Dids-H8.

Haha, so you know what song I was referring to.

Went to a local festival headlined by Tragically Hip (legends in Canada), Sheryl Crow, and Los Lobos about 10 years ago.

Two of the "preliminary" acts were Wilco and Silverchair. LOL

Had never heard of either of them at that point, and was blown away by both. (Silverchair more than Wilco)

If you listen to the Chair's album before this new one, "Diorama", some of the songwriting is pretty amazing. They aren't a junky alternative band. Their new music is not for everyone but Daniel Johns has got bucketfulls of talent. The guy that did all the instrumentation on the Beach Boys album worked on Diorama (Dick Van Dyke) and really rated Daniel as a songwriter.

I always thought the lyrics were "Black boy". Man I really suck at lyrics. I thought Tuq's joke was funny because it was, like, the complete opposite of the pigmentally-challenged Dids.

Diorama and Neon Ballroom were both pretty good.
